St. Stephen High School Holds First Annual Yugioh Tournament

On Friday, May 29th 2015, St. Stephen High School held the First Annual Yugioh Tournament. The dualist committee was the brains behind the tournament, composed of Ms. Norman (teacher facilitator), and four students: Emma Crossman, Hope Matheson, Jacob Borque and Mathew Cooke. The committee was proud of the turnout of tournament, having 14 duelists register. Four of the dualists were from St. Andrews and the remainder were from St. Stephen High school (present students and two graduates). The 14 competitors in the tournament dueled from 4:30 pm to 8pm. In total 30 games were played.  The tournament had a novist and an expert category.

The winner of the novist portion of the event was Jordan Conception of SSHS with Jacob Bourque of SSHS placing second. The winner of the expert was Ray Dowling of SJDA with Nick Goleniec of SSHS coming in second place. All of the dualists were skilled at their game, had fun playing against each other and traded cards and strategies throughout the evening.
Yugioh is a card game created and made in Japan, soon making its way to North America. The point of the game is to lower your opponent's life points to zero using a varity of different methods: attacking, card effects, luck of the draw etc.  There are many rules to follow and many different ways to play making the game complicated to play.
