Qualifications

STORE KEEPER QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school, or GED, and a minimum of two years’ experience in storekeeping work, including experience in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A comprehensive knowledge of standard procedures for purchasing and storage of supplies and materials is necessary. Ability to operate a computer and appropriate software programs is required.

 

 

OPERATIONS WORKER QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school, or GED, and experience in labour and minor maintenance work including the use of tools and equipment used in building maintenance and construction; experience in the safe operation and maintenance of light duty and heavy-duty automotive equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Possession of a valid Driver’s License with the appropriate endorsement(s) as issued under the Motor Vehicle Act may be required.

Job Description

STOREKEEPER

DEFINITION:

This is responsible work in the operation of a stockroom or warehouse. Work includes ordering, receiving, checking, distributing and maintaining supplies and materials; maintaining records; requisitioning supplies; providing information required for tender calls; developing storage methods; performing minor repairs; maintaining a clean and safe work area. Employees of this class may occasionally supervise temporary help. Supervisory tasks include assigning and monitoring work and evaluating performance. Employees of this class have the ability to solve work problems requiring the application of established policies, procedures and regulations. Performance is reviewed by a designated superior through discussions, observations, inspections, reports and overall results achieved for conformance with established standards.

OPERATIONS WORKER

DEFINITION:

This is manual and technical labour work involving the operation and maintenance of light duty and heavy-duty automotive equipment, maintenance of school grounds, and minor repairs. Duties may include providing assistance to the foreman, maintenance repairmen and a gardener with painting, cleaning in assigned offices, shops and buildings other than regularly assigned custodial work; collecting and removing garbage; general care of grounds and gardens; shoveling and ploughing snow from steps, walks and driveways. Work may include transporting employees, supplies, maintenance materials, mail and refuse; loading and properly securing supplies and materials being hauled and unloading same; keeping simple records of mileage and repairs and items delivered and picked up. Work is usually performed under direction either during progress and upon completion or according to assigned schedules. Employees may work independently under limited supervision after they learn assigned duties. Performance is reviewed by a designated superior through discussions, observations, inspections, reports and overall results achieved for conformance with established standards.
