ROAR For Change – Prevent Child Sexual Abuse

1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will have an unwanted sexual experience before their 17th birthday. This statistic motivated 25 year old Jessica Lanigan to create a non-profit organization in hopes of encouraging society to start talking about the issue of child sexual abuse. “ROAR For Change”, happening on Saturday May 16th from 7pm-9pm at the Imperial Theatre, is a celebration of becoming a registered non-profit organization, and symbolizes a shift from “ignoring to roaring!” Project Roar has made huge strides in raising awareness through education, and giving back to the community of Saint John is top priority. Jessica has spoken to over 3000 middle school students over the last 7 months, and students are speaking up about their abuse after hearing her share her story of struggle and triumph over her childhood trauma.

This uplifting and empowering event will help Project Roar move forward with future goals of educating adults, youth and children about the importance of using their voice.
