District invites applications for the following position:
Community
Schools Coordinator
1.0 fte. Effective Immediately
36.25 hours/week
(Current
assignment – Princess Elizabeth School)
The
Community Schools Coordinator will be responsible for creating and managing
partnerships and volunteers on behalf of Forest Hills School. Working with the Community Schools District
Coordinator, knowledge of the area will assist in identifying local resources
and opportunities that may not be immediately apparent to the District
Coordinator.
The Community
Schools Coordinator will be responsible to ensure that proper communication
with the Principal is undertaken and that all partnership activity has been
approved and supports the identified needs of the schools.
Reporting to the School Principal and
the Community Schools District Coordinator, responsibilities include but are
not limited to:

working with
the School Principal and Community Schools District Coordinator to develop
long-term strategic plans for local community and business involvement with
the schools;
·
Involvement in
the day to day operation at the school level of learning programs, community
development, education experience and community engagement within the school;
·
ensuring
volunteers and community resources which deal directly with students in the
schools, have been adequately cleared and trained (i.e. Policy 701, Criminal
Records Checks )
·
maintaining
records and schedules of all community-based activities at the school;
·
acting as a
liaison between the school and the community;
·
reporting
regularly to the Principal and the Community Schools District Coordinator on
best practices and new partnerships developed;
·
Provide
reports, updates and data as needed by the principal, district, partners and
Department of Education promoting and creating local partnerships to support
curriculum outcomes and the school’s needs.
Qualifications:
·
Must
demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, analytical and
communication skills as well as be able to multi-task, and work within tight
deadlines.

Work
independently on many projects.
·
An
undergraduate degree is required with a background in Community Development,
Social Work and/or Education. A thorough working knowledge of local
businesses and community assets would be preferred.
Salary: This is a SBEU position and
falls under Pay Band 2 ($1572 - $2194 bi-weekly).
