Good afternoon Hawk families. This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School.
COVID-19 Update: We did experience a drop in attendance early this week, but things seem to have levelled out and our students are being wonderful in respecting all the new Orange Zone procedures. The best advice I can give is to keep checking in with your child. I spoke to many students this week who had worries and misunderstandings about coronavirus. A good opening question is “What are you hearing about coronavirus? What questions do you have?” This gives you a chance to learn how much kids know – and to find out if they are hearing the wrong information. Find facts TOGETHER and rely on age appropriate content rather than news programs or websites targeting adult audiences. A good resource is Anxiety Canada:  https://www.anxietycanada.com/articles/talking-to-kids-about-covid-19/
Our Virtual Book Fair goes LIVE on Sunday! https://bookfairs-canada.myshopify.com/pages/5151731 Shipping will be to the purchaser’s home (free for orders of $35 or more; $6 flat rate for less than $35). Hampton Elementary families are welcome to share this link with family members, friends and neighbours as the school will receive book credits for our classrooms. A free shipping event will be held Wednesday evening, Dec. 3 6-8pm! A great opportunity to reinforce your child’s effort this first term and gifts for the holidays!
Report Cards: The first term Home Reports/Report Cards will be sent home with all students on Tuesday, Dec. 1st. This represents the learning of students from Sept. 7-Nov. 27.
Parent Teacher Meetings: Parent Teacher meetings will be scheduled online this year and occur virtually on Thursday, Dec. 3rd 4-7pm and Friday, Dec., 4th from 8:30-11:30 am in 15-minute blocks. If you do not have access to internet or a device at home, please call the school at 832-6021 to arrange a parent teacher meeting with your child’s teacher. If you book online but prefer a phone call, please indicate in the notes box your request. An appointment reminder will be sent to your email one day and then one hour before the meeting time. Book online here: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/HamptonElementarySchool@nbed.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/
There is no school for students on Friday, Dec 4th due to parent teacher meetings!
Thank you for your donations today to Hestia House – we raised $240! Thousands of Canadian kids flee violence with only the clothes on their back and a lot of the time, they are wearing pajamas. Hestia house offers shelter for abused women and their children, a 24-hour distress line that you can call for support or to discuss your options and referrals to appropriate agencies and support groups. Hestia House Distress Line: 506-634-7570
Coming Up:
