Integrated Service Delivery

School Psychologist I, 1.0 fte

Perm Position

 

Description: Under the direction of the Area Manager of Addiction and Mental Health Services, responsible for the Integrated Service Delivery, Child and Youth Teams,  the School Psychologist I will be responsible to:

·         Provide a broad range of professional psychological services in the school system in the application of the science of psychology to the areas of student learning and behaviour, assessment and evaluation, understanding of child and adolescent exceptionalities and psychological adjustment.

·         Consult with teachers, members of the Education Support Services Team (ESST) and Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) teams and parents in a collaborative process of defining problems and developing appropriate programs and interventions.

·         Be involved in individual student psychological assessments, in-service education, participation in the development of preventive and crisis response programs, program evaluation and professional supervision of psychometrists.

·         Work directly with students to better understand academic, behavioural, and social-emotional challenges, which may include individual counselling and individual and group behaviour skills development.

Qualifications:  A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology with course work and experience to meet the requirements for licensed membership in the college of Psychologists of New Brunswick. Successful completion of course work in child and adolescent development as well as child and adolescent exceptionalities are required. Experience in school psychology is desirable. The successful candidate must be capable of working both independently and in a collaborative manner with: students, parents, teachers, Integrated Service Delivery and Education Support Services Teams. Knowledge of school-based decision-making and policies would be an asset.

Necessary Special Requirement:  Licensed membership [or pending] in the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick.

Salary:  In accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees–Professional Support Group Collective Agreement, $2,492.07 to $2970.09 bi-weekly.
