This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: Last day for hot lunch, KOS Hampton Triathlon, Jump Rope, Volunteer Breakfast and a Pajama Day for JDRF.

No School for students on Monday as it is Victoria Day. A long weekend for all!

Chartwells Hot Lunch: The last day to order for Hot Lunch is June 7th.

Our book Launch event last evening was a huge success and a wonderful celebration of writing! Thank you for taking the time to listen to your children present their writing. We raised over $2200 for the playground (and the 50/50 winner Lindsey Ranni donated her portion back to the school!) but more importantly honoured the work the children did with writing!

Tuesday we will be welcoming out little buddies from DATL as we pair our classes for a Jump Rope for Heart activity day.

We welcome all of our volunteers to our Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, May 23. Our staff and students are looking forward to acknowledging all the work you do with coffee, tea, and continental breakfast items. We will also have a performance or two.

Kids of Steel Triathlon Free Training Program: Come to Hampton Elementary School field on Thursday, May 23rd for a triathlon training session. Open to students age 4-14! The Kids of Steel event (a swim, bike and run) is scheduled for June 2nd and the registration form is attached.

Home and School News: This weekend is the last chance to get an item for the Themed Basket Fundraiser. Photos of the completed baskets will be shared with families as well as information on ticket purchasing.

May 21-31: Is your child in Grade 4 this year? Did you know all students in Grade 4 complete a Provincial Assessment May 21-31st? Please find attached information regarding this year assessment.

Friday we will host a Pajama Day in recognition of our students who have Type 1 diabetes. Donations will be accepted in support of the JDRF fund.

Please see attached Class Composition Process used to determine student placement for the 2019-2020 school year. Class configurations are at the discretion of the district.

Purple Day is actually May 29 not May 15 and Food Allergy Awareness is for the month of May. Food Allergy Canada was delayed in updating their site and we were given incorrect information. We look forward to seeing everyone in their Purple on May 29th.
May is Food Allergy Awareness Month and we will be recognizing PURPLE DAY on Wednesday, May 29th.  Please encourage staff and students to show their support for awareness and education by wearing purple on this day. Staff and students can send pictures to the SCF Facebook site, or #purpleforcaroline on Instagram. You can get more information about Food Allergy Awareness on the ASD-S website.

What’s happening in the Community?
Hi Hampton Elementary School!
Who’s going to be Canada’s Most Active Community?

Hampton has entered the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge, a physical activity challenge that encourages communities across Canada move more, and move together. The Challenge ends by recognizing the community with the most tracked minutes as Canada’s Most Active Community and awarding it with a grand prize of $150,000 to support local physical activity initiatives – so be sure to get active with us from May 31 – June 16!

Parents are able to record minutes on behalf of their children as well as themselves, on the ParticipACTION app or at www.participation.com.
This includes at home and at school play, as well as organized activities, so make sure you record minutes spent at the gym, playing ball hockey, at dance practice, and more! Here in Hampton, the grand prize would contribute to playgrounds or outdoor gyms at each of the four schools. Join us as we kick off our Community Better Challenge festivities at the Town Square on June 1st from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
