This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk. Highlights for this week include: Code Mobile, Jump Rope, Triathlon Training, HMS Open House, and Book Launch!
 
Code Mobile: https://www.canadalearningcode.ca/code-mobile/ Bringing coding to classrooms everywhere – will visit H.E.S. on Monday and Tuesday and every class will take part in a one hour workshop.
 
Our Jump Rope for Heart session is wrapping up. All envelopes are due back to the school on Tuesday, May 14th.
 
Kids of Steel Triathlon Free Training Program: Come to Hampton Elementary School field on Monday and/0r Wednesday at 6PM for a triathlon training session. Open to students age 4-14!  
 
Home and School News: Our Home and School Committee meets Monday evening in the school library. All are welcome to attend! Please remember to send in your items for our Spring Fundraiser this week. We are looking for inexpensive items for your child’s themed class basket. The bins can include anything at all that relates to your theme. We ask that all items are brought in by Thursday, May 17th.  Photos of the completed baskets will be shared with families as well as information on ticket purchasing.
 
Wednesday, May 15th: 6:30-8 Hampton Middle School OPEN HOUSE for new students 2019-2020. This is an informal welcoming for any Grade 5 students moving up to the Middle School next year and their families to come view the school, ask questions and meet some of the staff. There will also be a student led tour of the school during the evening.
 
May 16th: Our school is hosting our first ever Book Launch with an Author Signing Event on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. We will have a choir performance in the gym followed by a school wide celebration of writing. Please make every effort to attend so your Author can have their moment to shine. . You do not want to miss this event. A donation of $10 is being asked in honour of your child’s work and all proceeds will go directly towards our Playground fund. You will receive the original signed story your child has created just for this event! Our Authors can’t wait to share their books with you!
 
May 21-31: Is your child in Grade 4 this year? Did you know all students in Grade 4 complete a Provincial Assessment May 21-31st? Please find attached information regarding this year assessment.

FREE Kids of Steel Training Event
Is your child interested in the sport of triathlon? Join local experts Garth and Helena Miller with support of Ms. Brenton and Ms. Blanchard to learn about and train for the Hampton Kids of Steel event taking place June 2. Ages 4-14!
