This is a message from Mrs. Blanchard, Principal at Hampton Elementary School with your weekly edition of the H.E.S. Hawk Squawk.

Nutrition Month: March 28th we will have a draw in each classroom where one student will take home a fruit basket. Thanks to all our families who supported Healthy Nutrition month. We hope you embraced some new healthy habits!

Calithumpians: We are excited to welcome back the Calithumpians to our school to share their presentation “Many Hands!”. Perfect for kids k-8, 'Many Hands!' is an energetic and musical adventure. Follow the story of a young girl who has been assigned a volunteering project for school. Along her journey, she becomes friends with a diverse group of eclectic volunteers and learns the impact of citizenship goes far beyond her school project. Our show teaches that whether it's volunteering in a hospital or community kitchen, being a friend to a best buddy or a senior, or even picking up litter, volunteering will make you feel great for opening your heart and participating in your community. 'Many Hands!' also parodies songs old and new, from The Doors to Ariana Grande, to bring these messages to life in a fun and vibrant way!

Milk: The final round of milk ordering is available online https://asd-s.schoolcashonline.com/ Please contact your child’s teacher or the school if you are requesting school sponsorship for your child to receive milk this term.

Book Fair Set-up: We are looking for volunteers to help with the set-up of our book fair after school on Friday, March 29th. The theme this year is “Dino-mite Book Fair: Stomp, Chomp, and Read!”. Our lead teacher is currently on leave and we appreciate all the help we can get! If you have any items which may help with decorating, please bring them in.

Report Cards: The Second term report cards will go home at the end of the day on Monday, April 1st. Parent teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday evening, April 4th 4-7PM and Friday morning, April 5th 8:30-11AM. There is no school for students on Friday, April 5th. Please look for a request to schedule a conference time in your child’s back pack this week.

Home and School news: The Home and School is hosting a breakfast fundraiser, Saturday, March 30th at St. Alphonsus Church. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children.

PARENT POWER NIGHT: We are so excited to announce our Third Annual Parent Power Night. We will have a wonderful panel of experts to share Mental Health information on Growth Mindset and parenting tips! For example: How to help my child embrace challenges rather than avoid challenges; how to help my child keep trying rather than giving up easily; help your child like trying new things. The event takes place at Hampton Elementary April 15th 6:30-8PM. Childcare in the form of Mindfulness Activities for Kids is available on a limited basis. Parents attending the session who would like their child to be cared for *should* register their child by calling 832-6021. This event is hosted by our PSSC but is open to all parents of ASD South students!

TOP 10 FINALIST: We discovered this week we have made it as a top 10 finalist to the Superpower Your School Staples contest. One elementary school out of the top 10 in Atlantic Canada will win $20 000 for their school technology needs. The winning school will be announced closer to Earth day in April – fingers crossed for HES as this is the 5th year we are finalists.
