KVHS Morning Announcements
November 8, 2018
 
·         On the Menu today in the Cafeteria:  roast beef and gravy with mashed potatoes and mixed vegs. Or spaghetti and meat sauce.
 
·         The sexual health program will be here today from 9am until noon to provide free, confidential services such as birth control, help with pregnancy concerns, STI testing and treatment. We are also at KV Oasis Youth Center from 3:30 – 5pm today.
 
GUIDANCE
·         The University of New Brunswick will be here on Monday, December 3rd for on the spot admissions.  Students must apply and pay online before attending.  Please sign up in the Guidance Centre for an appointment time. 12/3
 
·         The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership has arrived in the Guidance Office.  Applications are available for pick up.  They are due November 16th. 11/16
 
 
·         Any Students interested in attending Queen’s University to study Commerce should check out the D & R Sobey Atlantic Admission Award posted in the Guidance Centre.
 
·         Mount Allison University will be here on Monday, November 19th to have individual meetings with interested students:  Please sign up in Guidance for an appointment time.  If you meet with them, the recruiters will give you an online code that will waive the admission fee. 11/19
 
 
·         Information on the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award (value $28000) is available in the guidance department. 11/16
 
EVENTS
·         In support of Safe Grad 2019 – Jaryd Stanley in concert Thursday, December 6 at 7pm in the KVHS theatre. Tickets are $20 and are available in the KVHS office, Guardian Drugs and at Parent Teacher tonight from 4:30 - 7pm.
 
·         Next Tuesday and Wednesday will be Blue and White Day! So make sure to come in all your blue and white. This will be back to back due to home opener on Tuesday and Rip Seely on Wednesday.
 
·         Book Sale – Renaissance will be having its 10th annual Used Book Sale on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17. The sale will open to KVHS staff and students after school. The sale runs on the Friday from 6-9pm and Saturday from 10am – 4pm in the KVHS cafeteria. If you have books to donate please bring them to Mrs. Wright in room 136 (math wing).
 
YEARBOOK
·         Did you forget to buy your yearbook at the best price of the year? The sale of $55 online will be back this Thursday and Friday! You’ll also be able to buy your yearbook here at the school during parent-teacher. The sale of free personalization is only back for this Thursday and Friday. Don’t miss out!
 
CLUBS – TEAMS
·         Chess – Attention Chess enthusiasts! KVHS Chess Club will be meeting on Thursdays at lunch time in Mr. Marin’s class (room 245, in the wing above the math wing). The district tournament is coming up in early December, so please see Mr. Marin if you are interested in attending.
 
·         Renaissance – could all members of Renaissance please meet today, Thursday, November 8 at lunch in Mrs. Wright’s room, room 136 in the math wing. New members are always welcome!
 
 
·         Me to We – a huge thank you goes out to all the staff and students who participated in the We Scare Hunger food drive! Together we collected over 620 food items for the local food bank! The winner of the school wide advisory drive is Mrs. Levesque’s advisory! You have won an advisory breakfast! Thanks again for all your support KV!
 
 
 
MUSIC - DRAMA – THEATRE – ART
·         KVHS Concert Band is selling Saint John Sea Dog flex tickets as a fund raiser.  These are flex tickets that can be used at any home game until March 10. If you would like to purchase tickets please contact Ms. Palmer or any band member.
 
·         Spring Musical – for any students interested in the spring musical, there will be a meeting this Thursday at lunch in the theatre.
 
SPORTS
·         All field hockey jerseys are to be returned to Mr. Doiron during or before Advisory in room 291.  Senior team return uniforms to Mr. Morton.
 
·         The KV Football Crusaders play this Saturday, November 10th at 2pm for the Championship on the turf at Mount Allison University. Come support your Crusaders!!
 
 
·         If you ordered school clothing, please see Mr. Morton in the library right away.
 
·         Good luck to the swim team this weekend as they compete in the city and regional championship in Saint John.
