​Grade 6 is on the Basketball Court this week, grades 7 and 8 are on the field. 

Sports:

The Varsity Girls soccer team played another great game last night to advance to the district Finals.  The girls won 2-0. Sylvie Green scored both goals for QMS. Finals will be played on the Arthur Miller lower field on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 4:00pm vs Rothesay Park – good luck girls!


The Varsity Boys soccer team will travel to Harry Miller to play in the District Semi Finals today at 4:00pm – the game will be played on the Arthur Miller Upper field.


The JV Boys soccer team will practice from 3:00-4:30pm today. The team will host Semi Finals tomorrow at 4:00pm!


Other:

Grade 8 students are invited to order an orange t-shirt online to wear when installing our epic ArtsSmarts project. Orders are being accepted online via cashless schools until Wednesday at noon.


There will be a GSA meeting on Wednesday at 11:50 in the Wellness Centre. LGBTQ+ students, and all friends and allies are encouraged to join. New students are always welcome. Gr. 7 and 8 students must have shown proof of vaccination already or bring it with you to the meeting.

6) What battle which began on the morning of April 9, 1917, and ended four days later, was the first time all four divisions of the Canadian Corps fought together as one formation? Hint: This Canadian victory is considered to be a key point in shaping Canada as a nation. 

7) Approximately 70 Canadians were awarded this medal for “most conspicuous bravery in the presence of the enemy” during the First World War. Hint: Named for a monarch. 

8) Canadians saw their first major action of the war at this battle on April 22, 1915. Hint: Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae was inspired to write 'In Flanders Fields' to honour a friend who died during this battle.
