Here is another gratitude thought from Ron Perlay Grand Chief of Wolastoquey:

Today let us consider ancestors from east, north, south and west. Think about our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents and all those who came before us, both those we have met and those we were not able to meet.

On June 6, four members of the Afzaal family in Ontario were struck and killed by a vehicle. The police said the victims were targeted “because of their Islamic faith.” Canadians have to live with this horrific attack, but it was part of a broader global threat: the proliferation of far-right terrorism and islamophobia. Islamophobia is the fear of, hatred of, or prejudice against the religion of Islam or Muslims in general. As Canadians who value equality, inclusion, personal dignity, respect for others, and the rights and freedoms we all enjoy such as the freedom of religion, we stand in opposition to this hatred and discrimination. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Afzaal family, especially nine year old Fayez, and with all members of the Muslim faith community.

Calling All QMS Artists:

As part of next week’s Talent Show, we would like to include the artistic talents of QMS students.

It could be a drawing, a painting, some pottery, or any type of visual art you’ve created, either at home or at school, that you’d be interested in having included in the show.

Please sign up in the Art Room by Friday so we can get your work photographed and ready to share!
