Kennebecasis Valley High School PSSC Meeting

Thursday, October 13, 2005

In attendance: Betty Locke (Chairperson), Nancy Littlewood, Patty Donovan, Mary Stilwell, Robert Munro (Principal), Christine Hoyt (Recording Secretary).

Regrets: Sandra Bartlett, Nancy Jones, Dan Trecartin, Nick Papadopoulos, Kelly Munkittrick, Karyn Locke, Christin Clarke

1.         Meeting was not called to order as there was no quorum.

2.         A discussion was held on the planning details for the Student Health Fair that is scheduled for October 19th:

Nancy Littlewood and Principal Bob Munro updated the group on the 15 presenters who were confirmed. Others can not make it but they will send materials.

The space will be set up by students during period 5 on Tuesday and taken down during period 3 on Wednesday. Bob Munro and Patty Donovan will be there Tuesday evening to finish set up. Patty will meet the exhibitors at 8:30 am on Wednesday.

McDonald’s will provide drinks. Patty will pick them up Tuesday after work. We are still waiting to hear back from Tim Horton’s, Sobey's, Cochrane’s and Irving Oil.

Next year the following presenters will be added (could not be arranged this year): Chiropractor, Cancer Society, Dietician (Sobey’s), Year of Healthy Living

The mini-gym can handle only about 60 students at a time and so only grade 9’s will be invited this year given the time available before lunch. Each group will be there for 30 minutes.

Bob Munro will contact the media. Betty Locke will finalize the evaluation forms. Letter to editor will be sent thanking the presenters and those who made donations.

3.         After the discussion, Bob Munro toured the new PSSC members around the school.

Next meeting: November 17^th at 7pm. the recording secretary will be unable to attend and so Patty Donovan has agreed to take the minutes that evening.

Mr. Munro has a conflict on Nov 17^th and a quorum could not be achieved for Nov 24^th so

the next meeting will be Dec 1.
