The meeting was called to order at 7:13pm.
In the absence of a quorum this was an information meeting only.
A warm welcome was extended to Joyce Melvin of PASAGE and Constables Belliveau and Flynn of the Rothesay Regional Police Force.
The information provided by them was very informative. A brief discussion of the most common drugs used in the area ensued, as well as concerns about drugs which are gaining popularity in other centers and likely headed here. Concern was expressed about users' belief that the drugs they take are safe; that users do not believe there are lasting side effects; and that parents don't know what to do when they suspect their child is using.
The desire to host a parent information night was reiterated with May 25th suggested as a possible date. The police force is planning a presentation which could be suitable for this use but still requires significant work. They will attempt to have a working format by then. PASAGE has a power point presentation that is used for information sessions.
There was a brief discussion on how and when to present information sessions for students which was not resolved.
Bob was asked about class placement for at-risk youth. Bob explained the course registration process and the challenges that exist with offering a wide selection of courses some of which have limited registration for safety reasons.
