Today is KD Day!

 

RECYCLING: Any teachers that want their recycling bun emptied please send it to the Bio Lab with a student during Advisory.

 

Attention Grade 11 students! If you are interested in Engineering, we have an awesome opportunity for you! Come with us to UNB’s Engineering Day on May 15th. You will take a campus tour, design an engineering project on-site, hear directly from faculty about cutting edge engineering designs, women in engineering, environmental engineering, and more!

Spaces are limited. Please contact Mrs. Price or Mrs. Walsh directly to reserve your spot.

 

KD DRIVE: Starting next week Renaissance will be running a kraft dinner drive from April 22 to May 2nd.  We are asking students to bring boxes of KD into the advisory classes for us to donate to the church to thank them for the KD days and to help keep them going.  Classes can bring their boxes of KD to my Room #136 at any time.  We will also be placing a box in the office for them to be dropped off in.  Please encourage your students to participate.  We would love to see one box brought in for every student that attends!

INTERNATIONAL CLUB: Are you interested in languages and cultures? Then come join the International Club in Mrs. Steeves’ Room #117 today. The International Club is for all international exchange and local students who are interested in learning more about each other's culture. Some of our activities will include mini-language lessons, food tastings, playing international games, appreciating music and art from other cultures, and just having fun socializing in a multicultural environment.

 

We had a special podcast this week. Guest speakers from the Musical!!! The hosts had a LOT of fun with this one. We rushed to get it out before the musical and I forgot to email everyone this morning.  Well, here it is!

MATH CLUB:  Rise to Sigma in Ms. Taylor's Room #134 during lunch time.

 

ART CLUB: We will be meeting on today. Room #141 with Mrs. McCord.

 

INTERNATIONAL CLUB: Are you interested in languages and cultures? Then come join the International Club in Mrs. Steeves’ Room #117 at lunch on Wednesdays. The International Club is for all international exchange and local students who are interested in learning more about each other's culture. Some of our activities will include mini-language lessons, food tastings, playing international games, appreciating music and art from other cultures, and just having fun socializing in a multicultural environment.

Drumroll please..... our shuttlecock slayers and racquet rockstars left their feathers flying on the court this weekend at regionals! We couldn't be prouder. Congratulations to Noah, Sam Rockwood, Maggie Rockwood, Rachel McLean, Norah Pugsley and Alivia Thibideau on their fantastic performances. Huge congrats goes out to those who smashed their way to Provincials this weekend! Good luck Alivia Thibideau and Norah Pugsley.  Come support these girls as they compete in the provincial championships this Saturday at St. Machs!

FLAG FOOTBALL today at lunch outside on the field.  Bring your lunch, get your friends, and get outside for the first day of play. Anyone interested can come out and give flag football a try.

MAY WE ALL: Hello everyone, A few of you have reach out to let me know that you are interested in helping with House Committee for the upcoming production of “May We All!”.

If you would like to be a part of the production in this small way, please let me know. It involves overseeing 6-7 students as they take on the ushers’ duties each night: folding programs, providing online assistance in buying tickets and showing the audience to their seats. You would need to be available from 6:30 to 8 ish for one night during the week’s run.

If you want to become a new member of our crew or make a return appearance – just send me an email by Tuesday afternoon.

 

Any students or staff who are interested in helping with Makeup for the Musical please meet in the Science Lecture Theatre on Tuesday at lunch or see Mrs. Anderson.

VOLLEYBALL NEWS: The girls Varsity Volleyball Team upset 2nd place St. Macs last week and then fell short against Harbour View. We had some great Volleyball matches last weekend at the STU Cup defeating l'Odysée.  Good luck today as we host Rothesay High at 6pm.

Did you know that today is the final day of Ramadan? At sundown today the month of daylight fasting will end, and the three-day celebration of Eid will begin. This Islamic holiday is celebrated with visiting family and friends, feasting, and exchanging gifts. We wish all of our Muslim friends "Eid Mubark!

Are you tired of running late to class? Well..... how about running towards glory instead! Join the track and field team and you'll never be late again because we'll be busy sprinting towards success! Plus where else can you throw things and wear hats and not get in trouble!? Ditch the snooze button, lace up those sneakers and join us for a season of fun, fitness and plenty of laughs. Sign-ups for this year’s track and field team are happening this THURSDAY in the gym at the start of lunch.  Let's chase those KV dreams together 🙂 Coach Smith and Piacampo

 

REACH FOR THE TOP: Congratulations to the Reach for the Top team who had a great event in Sussex on Saturday.  In the Senior division, the team had their best result in many years as they placed two teams in the top 3.  Congratulations to gold medal winners Fiyin Onososen, Jack McHarg, Allie Ruttan, Jack Williams and Kieran Winchester!

In the Junior division, KVHS also brought home gold.  Congrats to Emily Hindle, Eli MacDonald, Mya MacVay and Calvin Sheeler.  The team will now prepare for Provincials which are in two weeks.

 

All Reach practices are cancelled today.

GREEN SHIRT DAY:(in support of organ donation) is this Sunday, but our school will be celebrating on Monday (April 8th). This initiative was started by the family of Logan Boulet, a victim of Humboldt Broncos bus crash in April 2018. Wear green on Monday to support Organ Donation!
