Hi everyone,

It’s Lisa Jardine calling from Leatherbarrow Primary school with your first Tuesday Talk mail of the school year! I am hoping that you had a wonderful summer and that you and your children are looking forward to a brand new, fun filled year!

We are still having our Meet the Teacher this Thursday evening, however, because of the cyclone forecast, we are cancelling the outdoor corn boil and postponing the official opening of the playground. Please drop in between 5:30-6:15pm to see your child’s new class, meet your child’s new teacher, and see old and new friends. You may drop in anytime during this time as teachers will not be giving a formal presentation regarding curricular outcomes, etc. as we are inviting parents and guardians to an evening session on October 10^th, dedicated to curriculum and expectations. This Thursday evening is a perfect time to:

-bring a full change of clothes for your child and your child’s indoor shoes (Phys.Ed classes begin the first week of school so sneakers will be needed. If they have not yet learned to tie laces, Velcro would be appreciated!)

-bring proof of immunization, if we do not have them or you have updated them

-provide any medical information about your child that we will need to keep them safe

-fill out alternate transportation requests for your child. You need to fill out a new alternate conveyance request every school year. As per District policy, students are only allowed to travel to their home address and 1 other alternate address if the request for alternate transportation has been approved. If you wish your child to go to another address, other than their home address the first week of school, you will need to fill out an alternate conveyance form on Thursday night. Teachers will have them in the classrooms, and you can find them on the ASD-S website.

-pay your student fee-you can pay your student school supplies fee online, but if you prefer to pay it in person, you can pay it on Thursday evening in the lobby.

At 6:15pm, any parents interested in joining our Parent School Support Committee, (PSSC), are invited to the gym.
