TRHS Grad News

Good morning,

Last Thursday, the TRHS Grad Council held a Parent/Guardian information session introducing the Grad Council executive and outlining important dates and events that are being planned for your son/daughter’s graduating year.  Please find attached two documents: an information packet and the first grad newsletter.

On Tuesday, Carole Crosthwaite, our LifeTouch representative, did a presentation to show options for the upcoming Grad Photo Sessions, which are scheduled to begin in the last week of November.  All grads are required to book an appointment for their grad photos since these photos will be used for the composite and by the yearbook. The sitting fee will be covered in the grad fees. Please book your appointment by going to the TRHS website (trhs.nbed.nb.ca) and click on the Grad News link on the right.  Here you will find instructions on how to book an appointment for grad photos (use the link).

This is a reminder that the first payment ($50) of the Grad fee is due Friday, Nov. 16th.  It can be paid at the office with cash or by using School Cash Online on the TRHS website.

Members of the Grad Class are enjoying a theme week and noon hour activities this week.  On Friday, the Grad Council has partnered with Cultures of Tantramar to host a pot-luck lunch in the Breakfast Room.  Grads who would like to participate are asked to bring their dishes to the Breakfast Room on Friday morning.

Thank you,

TRHS Grad Council

Students with incomplete work from Term 1 have until Friday, Nov.16th to submit it to their teacher.

2.    Thank you to those who attended Parent-Teacher Interviews yesterday and today.  We will be at Port Elgin Regional School for the last Parent-Teacher session next Wednesday, Nov. 13th from 6-7:30pm.

3.    We encourage everyone to attend their community Remembrance Day services on Sunday, Nov. 11th.  Lest we forget.

Message from TRHS about bussing

Good evening,

For those of you affected by the Rte. 935 flood, an alternative bussing schedule has been released.

DTI has informed us that this area will be closed for the entire week and a “detour” route has been established.  Parents can use the tool on our website : School and Bus Locator – Transportation Eligibility and it will give them the time by address.  We have attached the AM pick-up times for students living on the other side of the “closure” of Route 935 (Carters Creek).

For the afternoon, all students will take Bus 203 home, and will be approx. 1 hour later getting home than usual.

This schedule will be in effect Tuesday through Thursday.  Friday is a Professional Learning Day for staff - therefore Students do not have school.

Important Message from TRHS

Hello Titan Families,

We are using a new system for communication this year in Anglophone East called School Messenger.  You have already been receiving general messages from the school via this system.  You have likely noticed that it is contacting you via multiple ways.  You can set your communication preferences for general messages by visiting the School Messenger app or School Messenger web site and setting up an account using the e-mail you have provided to the school.

After this weekend, beginning Tuesday, October 9th, we will be requiring parents to use this system to report their child’s absence from school.  If you call the school to report an absence, you will be directed to the School Messenger notification system to report that your child will be late or absent.  Follow the prompts to report the absence and reason.

You can also report absences using the School Messenger App, web site, or toll-free phone number.  More information can be found on the ASD-E website at:

http://web1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-E/Pages/default.aspx

We encourage you to enter your child’s absence before the start of the school day.

If an absence has not been reported, parents will be notified in the morning by the system if their child is not in school and prompted to enter an absence code.  If an absence is still unexcused, the system will call again at the end of the day.  Parents can report an absence up until 11 pm on the day it occurs.

Thank you,

Mrs. Lafford

Message from TRHS
Titan Dragon Boats are once again in full swing, fundraising for the Lions Sick Children’s Fund and other local charities.  This Saturday, April 28th, our 7 Titan Dragon Boat Teams would like to invite our community to the TRHS Spring Fair that will be held at Tantramar Regional High School.  Admission is $3 per person and will take place between 10 am and 3 pm (rain or shine!).  Our students are busy planning fun family events such as sporting activities, face painting, musical chairs, karaoke, crafts and much more.  There will also be a BBQ, bake sale and individual team raffles.  Thank you for supporting the Titans!
