Morning Announcements - December 10th, 2019

The annual AESD Fill The Bus campaign is underway. All non-perishable food donations will be collected until December 17th and will go to the Food Depot Alimentaire. Please help us to help families in need this holiday season.  

December Art Contest - The artwork theme is Landscape, they must be painted or coloured and submitted by December 16th. 

Are you interested in fresh air and fun at lunch time? On Tuesdays, Mrs. Kenny will be supervising up to 12 students who are interested in going to the Rebecca Schofield Park from 12:30 -1.  In order to be part of this exciting lunch time activity, sign up at the office

Permission slips for Wednesdays Recipe In A Jar are due in the office ASAP. 

Jacob Pineau and Liam Walsh are hosting a Ball Hockey Tournament for grade 7 students on December 13th from 2:40 until 4:30 p.m. in the gym for their PBL project. There will be a sign up sheet outside the office.

Mr. Perry would like his students to bring their library books to class today. 

Congratulations to the Boys' Volleyball team for their win last night against Salisbury, they are off to the playoff tournament at Northrop Frye. Good Luck!

Congratulations to the girls' volleyball team for a well played season.  They displayed good sportsmanship and positive attitudes every single game and represented RMS well.  A reminder to drop off your uniforms (washed) to Mrs. Dorris.

​Winter Wonderland dance at RMS on December 5th, 2019 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Tickets will be sold in the cafeteria at lunch for $5.00 a ticket or $4.00 with a non-perishable food donation for fill the bus. There will be no tickets sold at the door.  IMPORTANT CORRECTION in the December newsletter the dance is Thursday not Wednesday, sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Big RMS Congratulations and Thank You to all participants, helpers, and organizers especially to Mrs. Landers and Mr. Lloyd for the Coffee House success last evening.  It was Fabulous!  

Congratulations to the boys' volleyball team for their win last night against Maplehurst.  They finished the regular season with 5 wins and 1 loss.  The boys' will play their first playoff game here on Monday against Shediac Cape.  There will be a boys' volleyball practice today after school. 

Good luck to the girls' volleyball team who will be playing their last regular season game today after school at Sunny Brae. 

Congratulations to Lauren Smith-West who won first place in the 50 meter breaststroke for the girls' 11 to 12 category at a swim meet in PEI.

​Join us tonight for our 3rd Annual Coffee House happening at 6 p.m. in the RMS Cafeteria. Admission is a non-perishable food item.  There will be a coffee house meeting with Mrs. Landers at break today. 

Leadership students who are making popcorn for the Coffee House, please go to the kitchen at 12 p.m.

Break Dance Legend Terry Du will be offering a break dance workshop for students who sign up at the office. Terry will be joining the First Dance SET next Friday, November 29, 2019 and will be offering the SET during lunch from 12 - 12:30.

The final total for Recipes In A Jar Fundraiser was an astounding 1304! This means 1304 meals will be served to a local food bank or shelter.  Way to go Riverview Middle School Students!

Being Santa is a set where they will sponsor a family who's child has been affected by cancer.  They are asking for donations of Christmas Cards, toys, or money to provide the family with some gifts.  

PBL Fundraiser for Grace will be $1 per day or $4 per week. November 18th - Crazy Sock Day, November 19th - Twin Day, November 20th - PJ Day, November 21st - Jersey Day.

Clothing sale will begin tomorrow, you will have a week to place orders. Clothing will arrive before the holidays.

Pictures have arrived and will be distributed during Advisory.

Lunch schedule has changed.

All of Grade 6 and Grade 7D, 7E, 7F and the 6/7 LI  from 12 to 12:30pm will eat in the cafeteria. At 12:30  they will proceed outside to the front bus pad from 12:30pm to 1pm.

Grade 7a, 7B, 7C and the 7/8 LI and all of Grade 8 will go to the front bus pad from 12 to 12:30. They will be in the cafeteria from 12:30 to 1pm.

Lunch bins are to be taken out of bins after advisory.

Reminder to line up when coming in for breakfast club. You are to eat breakfast and head back outside until the bell.  

Have your permission slip in by Friday if you are volunteering at the Harvest House on Saturday.

Effective today Lunch schedule has changed. We are no longer able to use the soccer field due to the snow.

All of Grade 6 and Grade 7D, 7E, 7F and the 6/7 LI  from 12 to 12:30pm will eat in the cafeteria. At 12:30  they will proceed outside to the front bus pad from 12:30pm to 1pm.

Grade 7a, 7B, 7C and the 7/8 LI and all of Grade 8 will go to the front bus pad from 12 to 12:30. They will be in the cafeteria from 12:30 to 1pm

- Christians in Action are meeting today at noon in the learning center, room 1010 next to the kitchen.  All are welcome.

- Any Cadets who would like to participate in the school Remembrance Assembly, please sign the sheet in the office.  Thank you.

- Reminder that No food is eaten outside. All food must be eaten in the cafeteria ONLY.

-Girls’ volleyball list will be posted at break in the phys ed hallway.  If you are going to the zoo, please see Mme. Levesque or Mme. Gautreau in the gym to see the list before you leave. Girls on the list are expected to practice today after school, until 5pm.

- Coffee House is taking place Tuesday, December 3 from 6-7 pm. All RMS families are welcome to attend.  Anyone who is still interested in performing in the coffee house and did not sign up for the SET, please go to the office on your break to sign up.​

-Big Congratulations goes out to our Cross Country team who finished 2nd overall in the district.  We took home 1st place for grade 7/8 girls and grade 7/8 boys. A special mention to Addison MacDougall who finished 1st in the grade 6 girls category and to Harlam Gangoo who finished 2nd in grade 6 boys category.

-Congratulations to the boys soccer team on a great season. Both teams represented RMS with pride.  Members of the teams are asked to return their clean jerseys to Mme. Levesque or Mme. Gautreau by Wednesday October 23rd.

- Any students missing their lunch boxes need to check the cafeteria stage and lost & found.  We have lots of lunch boxes not making it into the classroom buckets and they are all on display on the stage in the cafeteria.

·         Congratulations to the boys soccer team on winning the district semi-finals yesterday. They defeated Lewisville Middle by a score of 3-2 in a shoot-out.  Stay tuned for finals coming up next week.

 

·         The Boys’ soccer team is asked to meet Mme. Levesque in the gym at morning break.​

·        There will be treats from the cooking SET for sale at lunch Tuesday and Friday. Cost per item is .50 - $1.00.

 

·        Students renting out equipment are asked to please bring equipment back at the table and sign their name at the end of their outdoor time on the bus loading zone.  If a student loses a ball, please come tell our volunteers as it is easier to track the equipment.  Last week 23 sports balls were not returned.

 

 

·        Congratulations to the boys soccer team on their win against Riverview East School by a 4 -1 score!!! ​
