New Week March 18-22

Dear Magnetic Hill Families:

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

Welcome back to the start of a new week.
A few reminders as we kick off the week.
Our next home and school meeting will be held on Tuesday the 19th at 6:30. All are welcome.
Our next PSSC meeting will be held on the 26th and it begins at 7:00.
This week we have report card preparation and Professional Learning for staff on Friday. As a result, there are no classes for students on the 22nd.
Report cards go out on the 4th with parent teacher/student led conferences on the afternoon and evening of the 4th of April and again the morning of the 5th.
Monday will be day 04 in the cycle.

A reminder to parents to exercise extreme caution coming into the kiss and drop part of the parking lot in the mornings. We have had a couple of close calls recently. Please pull up as far as you can in the morning, do not drop off by the main doors as it causes congestion coming in from Route 126. If you require extra time to assist your child to get out of your vehicle you can use the guest parking located near the main entrance on the Lion’s Club access road. Please watch for children and staff when exiting the parking lot. We can make drop off as safe as possible by being extra vigilant and remembering this is a school parking lot with over 400 students to watch out for! Thanks

We have 3 cases of Majesta EZ toilet tissue left from our Tissue for Technology promotion. The cases are $35 each and can be purchased through the office.

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and we are back on Monday.

Welcome Back!

Dear Magnetic Hill Families
Welcome back after our March Break!
Hopefully you will remember to set your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday night!
Monday will be Day 05
It will also be our 100th Day of School and the Mighty Sprout team will have some special activities scheduled to celebrate the day.
For parents of students who ride bus 69-1 in the morning. There have been some changes to the schedule that will take effect on Tuesday morning. Pick up times will be approximately 10 minutes earlier.
We have received communication from our Transportation Department about after school bussing to be shared with parents. A reminder, alternate conveyance, meaning taking a bus to an alternate location can only take place with a completed alternate conveyance form, or an emergency basis. Working with a friend, sleep overs, or other reason cannot be accepted by drivers and they can refuse access to the bus. Many of our busses are crowded and space is at a premium at the end of the day. Your support and planning for after school arrangements is appreciated at the school and district level.

See you on Monday!

December 02
A New Week

Dear Magnetic Hill Families:

As always lots to share as the new week begins. We are into a very busy time of year as we approach the holidays.
The clothing drive is winding up at Magnetic Hill. The truck will be at the school on Tuesday and we can take any last minute items. All funds raised will be used to support programs for our students with needs through the work of Mrs. Dupuis (Dickson) and Ms. Steeves. Thank you for your support!

The Holiday Gift Mart is fast approaching. It will be on December 12th. If you can help out with set up on the 11th or with the event on December 12th please let us know at the school.  Items are flying in and we appreciate your support. Although, we are still in need of more “dad” items.

The Christmas Dinners will be on the 11th (K-2) the 12th (3-4) and the 13th (5-8) with a makeup day on the 14th if we have any storms. I have included the flyer from Chartwells, our food service provider. This can only be ordered directly from the school and cannot be purchased online. Tickets will be held until the day of the event by homeroom teachers. Parents and family members are welcome to attend. Students from other teams can attend with family members if that is more convenient.

The concert is on the 18th at 9:00 and 12:30. Video Ace will be producing DVD copies for purchase and Sonic Image will be assisting us with the sound and production. Thank you to Trevor Jones at Video Ace and Derek Aubie at Sonic Image for helping us to make the production look and sound it’s best.

December 21st is a full day for staff and students.
Students resume classes on the 8th of January (Tuesday)

On Friday we had our second Celebration Assembly, almost 70 students were recognized with awards for their hard work (GRIT), positive attitude (MAGS) and kindness (BECCA). This was followed by a special Activity Afternoon and it was a huge success. Special thanks to our organizing teachers and volunteers who helped out.

Our events day allowed us to give the Greater Moncton SPCA a donation from the school and this month we have raised funds for the Sue Stultz Turkey Drive.

Monday is Day 04

Jolly Farmer orders will be at the school on December 6th

Thank you!

Kiss and Drop

Good evening Magnetic Hill School families, hope you all had a fantastic summer!

With School beginning next Tuesday we wanted to send out a reminder of how our Kiss and Drop functions. We will have several extra staff for the first few days to get things up and running.

-          There are two lanes divided by concrete barricades.  Inside lane (closest to the sidewalk) is a bus lane only and is not to be used at any time.  Outside lane is to be used for Kiss and drop.

-          There are two marked crosswalks that are to be used for student drop-off.  Students get out of their car on their own but only at the crosswalks (Please don’t let your child out early and have them walk down the barricade to the crosswalk)

-          There will staff on duty to monitor students using the crosswalks and watch for busses entering and leaving the bus lane.  However, please remind your children to look before crossing the bus lane.

-          Once your child has crossed been dropped off please be patient as the line moves quite quickly.  DO NOT pass another vehicle in the Kiss & Drop lane.  This happened numerous times last year. Please report any vehicle that does this to School Administration as its puts students at risk.

-          Please ensure your child is prepared (jacket on, book bag nearby etc.) in order to speed up the process. Having your child sit on the right hand side also helps.

-          Please move up to the furthest crosswalk to enable more vehicles into the slip.

-          Parking is very limited in the morning with staff and volunteers so please use this system each morning.

Thanks again for your cooperation and patience.  We know how important each and every one of your children are, as is student safety for our staff.
