Dear Magnetic Hill Families:

As always lots to share as the new week begins. We are into a very busy time of year as we approach the holidays.
The clothing drive is winding up at Magnetic Hill. The truck will be at the school on Tuesday and we can take any last minute items. All funds raised will be used to support programs for our students with needs through the work of Mrs. Dupuis (Dickson) and Ms. Steeves. Thank you for your support!

The Holiday Gift Mart is fast approaching. It will be on December 12th. If you can help out with set up on the 11th or with the event on December 12th please let us know at the school.  Items are flying in and we appreciate your support. Although, we are still in need of more “dad” items.

The Christmas Dinners will be on the 11th (K-2) the 12th (3-4) and the 13th (5-8) with a makeup day on the 14th if we have any storms. I have included the flyer from Chartwells, our food service provider. This can only be ordered directly from the school and cannot be purchased online. Tickets will be held until the day of the event by homeroom teachers. Parents and family members are welcome to attend. Students from other teams can attend with family members if that is more convenient.

Kiss and Drop

Good evening Magnetic Hill School families, hope you all had a fantastic summer!

With School beginning next Tuesday we wanted to send out a reminder of how our Kiss and Drop functions. We will have several extra staff for the first few days to get things up and running.

-          There are two lanes divided by concrete barricades.  Inside lane (closest to the sidewalk) is a bus lane only and is not to be used at any time.  Outside lane is to be used for Kiss and drop.

-          There are two marked crosswalks that are to be used for student drop-off.  Students get out of their car on their own but only at the crosswalks (Please don’t let your child out early and have them walk down the barricade to the crosswalk)

-          There will staff on duty to monitor students using the crosswalks and watch for busses entering and leaving the bus lane.  However, please remind your children to look before crossing the bus lane.

-          Once your child has crossed been dropped off please be patient as the line moves quite quickly.  DO NOT pass another vehicle in the Kiss & Drop lane.  This happened numerous times last year. Please report any vehicle that does this to School Administration as its puts students at risk.

-          Please ensure your child is prepared (jacket on, book bag nearby etc.) in order to speed up the process. Having your child sit on the right hand side also helps.

-          Please move up to the furthest crosswalk to enable more vehicles into the slip.

-          Parking is very limited in the morning with staff and volunteers so please use this system each morning.

Thanks again for your cooperation and patience.  We know how important each and every one of your children are, as is student safety for our staff.
