Comfort Corner from our Guidance Counsellor

Today's world can be very busy with schedules, routines, events, and emails.  It is important to take time in our days to practice mindfulness.  Simply put, mindfulness is the practice of being in the present moment.  Parents are encouraged to model mindfulness themselves, or teach their children to be in the present moment.  This month, let's take a look at some ways we, as a family, can practice mindfulness.

·         Meals

Mindful Check-In. Begin a conversation, focusing on the here-and-now by asking your child to share one thing they are feeling physically and emotionally.  Additionally, ask them to share one thing they are thinking about in this moment.

·         Waking Up

Five Senses. In the morning take a few moments, taking turns with your child, naming a few things you can hear, taste, feel, see, and smell.

Boys’ Soccer – Well…the boys lost yesterday…but they did so in great fashion.  They were down 3-0 in the first 15 minutes of play then got a red card meaning you lose a player for the rest of the game so the team had to play with one less player than the other team for 45 minutes…but that didn’t stop Lewisville from playing their hardest.  They scored two goals back to back making the game 3 – 2 then with one minute left of play the tying goal was scored to make it 3 – 3 sending this game into shoot outs but what a great game this was!!!  An Honorable mention goes to the whole team for showing resilience throughout the whole game even though we were missing two starting players and lost another due to a red card…The team stuck together and played their best!!  Well done boys!!!  Mr. Thibault is really proud of the effort shown yesterday!!!

In intramural soccer today 7/8 E will play 8C @ 12:15 and 6D will play 6B @ 12:35.
