Quebec Trip

The final Quebec trip meeting will be tomorrow at noon in the Theatre – the whole lunch hour – so bring your lunch!  The group leaves this Thursday!

Talent Show

Talent Show, Talent Show, Talent Show!  If you love to show off your talent, now is your time to shine!  There will be a meeting for anyone interested in participating in the LMS Talent Show today in the Theatre at 12:15.  If you can do magic, sing a song, or tell a joke, this is your time to shine!  Meet Ms. Jardine in the Theatre at 12:15 today.

 

Powerplay Young Entrepreneurs

All Grade 6 LMS Panthers are participating in the Powerplay Young Entrepreneurs Program.  What does this mean for you?  Well, get ready to be amazed!!!  TOMORROW – Bring your money and you will be able to buy innovative, student-made fabulous products.  Can’t wait!!!    ​

June is the beginning of Pride month.  We want to celebrate inclusion here at Lewisville Middle School and encourage everyone to continue to behave in a way that supports an inclusive place to live and learn.  Happy Pride LMS!

Good morning adventurers!  The final bell tolls for thee…As this year comes to a close, I wanted to thank all former and current players this campaign.  I have learned a lot about your needs as players and young scholars and vow to come back as your Den lead next year. 

Our final adventures together will take place this Thursday after school.  For one final time, let’s roll for initiative.

 

Band

This is a reminder to all band members to please return your permission slips no later than this Wednesday.

Gardening

This is just a friendly reminder for students to not touch the faucets for the rain barrel by the garden.  This is the garden’s main source of water and it is needed.  Also, those who would like to help out in the garden, we will be meeting at the first part of lunch (12:15 – 12:35).

Addiction and the Brain Presentations

A reminder to Grade 6 teachers that Carly Furlong from the Child and Youth Team will be here this morning for Presentations on Addiction and the Brain.  The presentations will be held in the Theater.  Please wait for your class to be called down and teachers, please accompany your class.  The first presentation begins at 9:00 and will include 6/7F, 6C, 6E and 6F.  The second presentation begins at 11 and will include 6A, 6B, 6D and 6G.

School Dance

Exciting times!  There will be a school dance for all grade levels next Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.  The theme will be “glow”.  Snacks and glow items will be available for purchase.  Entry fee will be $5.00 and all proceeds will go to end of year Grade 8 celebrations.

 

Soccer Council

Meeting Wednesday, May 17th – 12:15 – 12:35.  Bring your lunch.

 

Speed Club

Do you have a “Need for Speed”?  Well, you are in luck!!  You can join the Speed Club today at lunch time from 12:15 until 12:55.  Bring your lunch with you!  In case you are wondering, it’s a fun card game based on speed.  To join just sign up on the bulletin board beside the gym and drop in to Mr. Thibault’s class (Room 104) at lunch time today.

LMS Pride & Safe Space would like to draw your attention to today, May 17th, as International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.  Today is meant to be a day to recognize that each and every member of our community has the same fundamental human right to be treated with respect, dignity and grace.  Irrespective of how you identify, above all, please choose kindness today as you go about your day – as you never know how the power of a smile and a few kind words might change someone’s life.

Grade 6 Soccer at Recess

Once again, until further notice, it is only skill building activities if you are playing soccer.  Games will start when new rules are put in place. 

 

Regional Heritage Fair News

A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes to 6 LMS PANTHERS!!!  They were amazing school ambassadors.  They were selected to participate at the Regional Heritage Fair which took place at the Albert County Museum last Saturday, May 13th.  They went and came back with several awards.  We had four students who won the NB Historic Places Award and two students who won the Labor History in NB Award.  Great job!  We are so proud of all of you!

Speed Club

Grade 6 Soccer at Recess

Front Doors

Reminder for safety and security that the doors must remain locked – so propping them open at recess to get in faster is unsafe.  Also only the office personnel would let anyone in the locked front door.

Breakfast Club Etiquette Reminders

Please remember Breakfast Club is for all, however, we do need to follow some basic expectations:

-          Please do not take anything off the cart until the volunteer has stopped in their usual spot.

-          Please form a single file line against the wall, being mindful not to block the hallways.

-          When an item is no longer available, kindly choose another option and please limit the amount of food you are taking to ensure that everybody has what they need – no one can learn when they are hungry.

-          Lastly, please use your manners and say thank you to our volunteers!

U de M Math Competition

On May 12th, last Friday, students from LMS represented our school very well at the U de M Math Competition.  Ms. McGrath is so proud of the leadership that you showed throughout the day.  Big shout out to our nominee for Sub-district winner for Anglophone East. 

Again, Ms. McGrath would like to thank you all for a fun and amazing day and outstanding behaviour  Looking forward to next year. 😊

Cheerleading

On Saturday, your Lewisville cheerleaders competed in their last competition, Provincials!  Out of 8 teams from across New Brunswick, your Panthers took home 2nd place!  The cheerleaders have had an incredible season including three 1st place wins, awards for Best Tumbling, Best Stunts, and Best Jumps.  We are so incredibly proud of all that our team has accomplished.  Please give your Lewisville Cheerleaders a huge congratulations for their dedication and hard work.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – MAY 1, 2023

 

Cheerleading

On Saturday, April 29th, your Lewisville cheerleaders competed in Saint John at Millidgeville North School’s Shoot for the Stars Cheerleading Competition.  Out of 7 teams from across the province, your Lewisville Panthers took home FIRST PLACE!  This is the third consecutive first place win for the team this season.  Additionally, the team won an award for Best Tumbling and Captain Shae Williams took home an All Star Award for her exemplary performance.  Please give your cheerleaders a big congratulations today when you see them.  Their last competition will be Provincials on May 13th.  Can they go all the way?!

Congratulations to the Grades 7 and 8 badminton players for a great showing at the District Championships.  Our students finished 2nd in doubles, 2nd place in singles and 5th place in doubles.  Congrats team for a great showing!!!  The Grade 6 team will play today in a school tournament until 4 p.m.

Recycling Committee

The Recycling Committee is in need of more blue bags!  If you are able to donate a box of small or medium blue bags, you will earn 5 pawprints!  Please bring the bags to Ms. Phillips in the Student Learning Center.

 

Grade 8 Students

You have received your consent form for the Grade 8 transition activities for April 26 and May 18.  Please have your parent sign it so they are aware and return it to your homeroom teacher ASAP.

 

Cell Phone

An email was sent to parents this week to help reinforce the importance of having your cell phone in the pocket chart or locked in the locker during class time.  Students are still permitted to use their phone at recesses and after school at this time.  Let’s work together on this.  We have had much success with this so far this week!

 

Quebec Trip

There will be a meeting for all Grade 8 students going on the Quebec trip today at 12:15 in the Theatre.  Students are asked to bring their rooming lists to the meetings.  Don’t forget a folder and something to write with!

Quebec Trip

There will be a meeting for all Grade 8 students going on the Quebec trip tomorrow at 12:15 in the Theatre.  Students are asked to bring their rooming lists to Mrs. Smith by tomorrow’s meeting at the latest.  Don’t forget a folder and something to write with!

 

Cell Phones

An email was sent to parents last night to help reinforce the importance of having your cell phone in the pocket chart or locked in the locker during class time.  You are still permitted to use your phone at recesses and after school at this time.  Let’s work together on this.

 

Grade 8 Students

You have received your consent form for the Grade 8 transition activities for April 26th and May 18th.  Please have your parent sign it so they are aware and return it to your homeroom teacher by this Friday.

 

Recycling Committee

The Recycling Committee is in need of more blue bags!  If you are able to donate a box of small or medium blue bags, you will earn 5 pawprints!  Please bring the bags to Ms. Phillips in the Student Learning Centre.

 

Band

This is a reminder that there is a band practice today for all band members.  Come at 12:15, have your lunch and be ready to play at 12:30.

Cell Phones

Our cell phone policy has not changed but we will be enforcing it due to ongoing issues.  There are no cell phones allowed in the classes.  Please keep them secured in your locker or placed in the pocket chart when you are in the classroom.  The cell phone privilege will be lost if this rule cannot be respected.

Cheerleading

On Saturday, April 15th, your Lewisville Panthers Cheerleading team travelled to Saint John, New Brunswick to compete in Bayside Middle School’s Laskey Legacy Competition.  Out of 8 teams from across the entire province, your Panthers took home ANOTHER 1ST PLACE WIN!  Additionally, one of the team members won a special All Star Award given to one athlete on each team for exemplary performance.  The team has one more competition in April before Provincials in May at Moncton High School.  Can they go all the way?!  Make sure to congratulate your cheerleaders today!

 

Improv/Safe Space/DND

Improv will meet this Tuesday during lunch.  We have started to move into skit development.  Please bring your lunch and your creative juices! 

 

Safe Space will be this Thursday during lunch in the Student Learning Centre.  Please remember the tenants of acceptance, safety and respect.

Happy Thursday Panthers!  Today is the last prize draw of Term 2 and we are so proud of the kindness, respect and success you’ve shown.  In Term 1, you earned a total of 1,890 pawprints.  Ms. Phillips set a goal to see if you could beat that this term by getting 2,000 pawprints but you blew that goal out of the water!  Drumroll please – you earned 3,261 pawprints during Term 2!  Way to go LMS!  Ms. Phillips has drawn 10 prize winners today and would also like to recognize the top 6 students that earned the most pawprints this term as well as Honourable mentions for additional top earners for Term 2.  Please give yourself a round of applause for all of your hard work this term.  Prize winners, please come to the Student Learning Center to collect your prize.
