Boys’ Volleyball

There will be NO boys’ volleyball practice today.

The boys beat Queen Elizabeth in two straight games yesterday to pick up their first win of the season.  Great job, boys.

 

Grade 8 Students

Grade 8 students, are you still looking to get involved?  This year Lewisville Middle School is looking to have a small committee of Grade 8 students to oversee the Project Nice List AND the Fill the Bus campaign.  If you are a Grade 8 student and have an interest in being a part of this committee, please sign up outside Ms. J. Smith’s room (Room 106) before Tuesday, first recess.

Girls’ Volleyball

The girls’ volleyball team will play Birchmount today after school.  Spectators are required to show proof of vaccination to enter.

The GSA will meet briefly in the Theatre tomorrow /Wednesday after lunch.  Anyone who has already signed up and any others interested in joining, are welcome to attend.

Dear LMS Families,

 

We hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. Volleyball and Cheerleading are underway, as well various clubs and activities for students to join. The colder weather has arrived and students should now be bringing warmer clothes for outside time. An extra mask and a water bottle are also still required for students to bring to school.

 

Parent-Teacher Interviews and Report Cards -The interviews will be done virtually, phone or email.  The report cards will be going out on Wednesday December 1st, and the interviews will be held on Thursday December 2nd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and on Friday December 3rd from 8:30am to 11:30am.  Parents requesting an interview are asked to email the teacher directly and set up a time. The interviews will be limited to 10 minutes to reach as many parents as possible. The staff email list is located under “About Us” on our school website or follow the hyperlinks to retrieve the staff email list.

Christmas Daddies News- The committee would like to thank the teachers and students who organized the Pumpkin Carving Contest (winner 7F!), as well as Stirling’s Farm Market for donating the pumpkins. Greatly appreciated!

Christmas Daddies

The Christmas Daddies’ Committee will be selling candy canes at lunch.  We will be going to each homeroom to sell.  Those wanting to buy will line up in a single file line.  If students are not following instructions, the Christmas Daddies’ Committee has been instructed to stop selling and leave the classroom.

Candy canes will be $1.00 or $2.00 depending on the flavour.

 

Today’s Theme Day is Jersey Day. 

To participate a monetary donation of $1.00 will be required.

Don’t forget all proceeds will go to Christmas Daddies.

Teachers will collect the donations and put them in the classroom bucket.

 

Picture Retakes

Picture retakes are November 29th.

If you require retakes, you must have sent in your retake request form as Harvey Studios requires parental permission in order to proceed with your retake.  If these forms have been lost, please make sure you have a note from a parent confirming that they are agreeable to you having retakes done.  The decision whether or not to proceed with the retake if the initial form is not given, is up to the discretion of Harvey Studios.

 

Report Cards

Report cards go out Wednesday.

Parent teacher interviews are Thursday evening and Friday morning.

No school for students on Friday due to parent teacher interviews and staff PL.

As you watch the slideshow of marvelous pumpkin displays, drop your change in the class bucket of your choice.

EAL Tutoring

EAL tutoring is cancelled until further notice.

 

Cheerleading

All students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 who would like to try out for cheerleading this year MUST sign up on the clipboard outside of Room 113 by Monday, November 1st.  Students eligible for the vaccine must show proof of both vaccinations before tryouts.  Tryouts will be held after school from 3:00 – 5:45 on Tuesday, November 2nd, Thursday, November 4th and Tuesday, November 9th.  Coach Ally and I can’t wait to see you there!

 

Cooking Club

Cooking Club is meeting once again in the Cooking Lab today at lunch for those who have shown proof of vaccination.  Bring your lunch.  Hope to see you there!

Christmas Daddies

Friday’s Theme Day this week is dress up in your Halloween costume but no full face masks and no props.    A monetary donation of $1.00 to participate.

Lewisville Pumpkin Carving/Designing Contest

Hi Panthers, we will once again be participating in a pumpkin carving/designing contest to raise money for Christmas Daddies.

This is how the fundraiser will run:

Homeroom classes have until Friday, October 29th to carve/design/paint their pumpkin.

Then on Friday, October 29th, please send 2 students immediately after morning announcements to the cafeteria to quickly set up their pumpkin display.  Each homeroom will be called down for students and staff to vote with their money on which pumpkin has the best design.

Students and staff will vote by dropping change (5, 10, 25 cents) into a bucket in front of the pumpkin (Please bring your Christmas Daddies bucket).

*The homeroom that collects the most money wins the contest and a treat.

 

Boys’ Soccer

Congratulations to the boys’ soccer team for winning against Riverview Middle School 4-1 yesterday in the semi-finals.  The team now moves on to the finals on Wednesday against Maplehurst but the game is played at the CN Sportsplex Field #1.

Practice today here at Lewisville.

Afternoon Bus Students

Just a reminder to bus students.  When a bus is pulling up in the afternoon, you need to be waiting on the school’s side of the yellow line to ensure that no one gets hurt by accident.  Only come closer to the bus once it has come to a complete stop and the doors have opened.

 

Boys’ Soccer

Thank you to all the boys that came to the tryouts.  The team list is now posted on the bulletin board beside the gym. 

Team members must read the note that is posted beside the list and take note of the information and schedule for the games that are posted beside the list.

There will be a boys’ soccer team meeting at the 10:20 recess on Monday where we will distribute jerseys to the team members.

The first game for the boys’ soccer team will be on Monday at 3:30 against Queen E. but the game is played at the superior propane center (4plex).  Pease make sure to have your drive arranged from Lewisville right after school and to also have your drive ready to leave after the game.
