ESD-E Message to Parents

January 7th, 2022

Dear ASD-E Families,

Happy New Year! We hope you all had a restful and happy holiday season and we look forward to welcoming your children back to school virtually next week, and eventually for in person learning.

Distance Learning will begin for all schools on Tuesday, January 11th. You child’s school or teacher will be in contact with you with information on what is expected for your child’s class(es) on Tuesday and going forward. The Province has indicated that they will reevaluate on January 17th and announce whether school will continue virtually or in person at that time.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has acknowledged that some exceptional circumstances require some students to attend school in person during this time. Schools will reach out directly to families with students who meet these exceptional circumstances with more information.

Public Health has also made fundamental shifts in their approach to testing, isolation, and contact tracing over the last two weeks. You can find the most updated Public Health protections and guidelines here. Schools will no longer be receiving rapid tests for distribution.

Schools will continue to follow Public Health’s protocols for any positive cases including any changes to messaging. As Public Health protocols are confirmed, details on changes to the messaging for any positive cases will be shared with families. Students who test positive will still be expected to isolate as per the above Public Health guidelines link, as are household close contacts of a positive case. Any questions should be directed to Public Health.

Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation, and understanding as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic. We look forward to welcoming your children back into our schools. Student safety remains our priority.
