Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone!  We are happy to be back with the students this new year. The year ended with some Christmas activities with the students.  A big thank you to the Home and School Association and the volunteers who made the shopping event possible.  This was enjoyed by all the students!  We hope families enjoyed their Christmas presents.

We are returning to school with the new ventilation system ready to go in all classrooms. The ventilation project at HES started this past summer.  Over the holidays all the classroom units were connected and as of today, are circulating outside air into classrooms. The small portable units have been removed.

HES will see a change taking place the end of this month.  Mrs. Boutilier...“Mrs. B” will be retiring.  Mrs. B has been the Administrative Assistant at HES for more than twenty years. She is an integral part of the way the school runs every day. She is the friendly, helpful voice you hear when you call the school or stop by the office.  She takes care of everyone’s needs!  Please join us as we congratulate her on a career that has made a difference to so many….staff, students and parents!  Feel free to wish her well when you have an opportunity.

Finally, January will see colder days…and snow!  It is important that children are dressed for outdoor play (snow pants and boots).  Extra mittens are encouraged.  We are happy to accept mitten donations. We always have students looking for mittens!  Students’ names should be on all outerwear.  (We have a lot of black snow pants at school that can get mixed up.)

Please remember that morning supervision begins at 8:15am. Students should not arrive before this

time.  The first bell rings at 8:35 and the second bell at 8:40 when classes begin. Please have students at

school before 8:40 so they are ready for class learning. Thank you.

Principal

Allergy Alert –  HES is a nut free school as some students have severe allergies to nuts.  Thank you for helping ensure students are safe by not sending food with nut products.
