Dear Parents/Guardians,

December is upon us along with plans for Christmas activities. The month begins with students receiving their first term report cards.  Parent/teacher interviews will take place next week. Teachers have sent information about interview times.  Please be sure you have an appointment. Communicating about your child’s progress is an important part of supporting your child’s learning.

This Saturday (Dec. 3rd) HES will be part of Hillsborough’s Christmas Parade.  We are looking for more volunteers to help with float preparations on Saturday afternoon (2pm). Please come out to help. We are also looking for more students to be on the float. Students are to be at the school by 6pm to go on the float. The parade starts at 6:30pm.

Christmas concert preparations are well under way. We look forward to having a concert again in our school gymnasium.   Concert date is Wednesday, Dec. 14th at 7pm.  Other Christmas activities have been planned for the students this month, including the Christmas shopping event on Tuesday, Dec. 20th.  Donations of shopping items are being accepted for this event. Thank you to all those who have dropped items off at the school. Volunteers are needed. Information about volunteering for this event will be shared by our Home and School Association. Also, a note that the H&S coffee fund raiser orders are expected to arrive at the end of next week.

Anglophone East’s “Fill the Bus” campaign is back!   Students are invited to bring food items to school. There is also a virtual option for financial donations from November 28th to Dec 21st . All funds raised will go to School Breakfast Programs through the Food Depot Alimentaire and the food items collected will go to foodbank programs throughout the school district. See the back of the newsletter for more information.

Finally, attached you will find information about the NB Student Wellness survey. This survey is conducted in all public schools to evaluate physical, social and emotional wellness of students from students’ perspective as well as parents. Surveys are anonymous. Please use the unique log in information printed at the bottom of the page to complete the survey on or before December 9th, 2022.

As this will be the last newsletter before the Christmas holidays, the staff here at Hillsborough Elementary School want to wish you a safe and joyous Christmas holiday and we look forward to your return in January of 2023!
