Dear Parents/Guardians,

This week, New Brunswick author and illustrator Odette Barr will be visiting HES on Thursday.  She will be sharing her passion for writing and illustrating. Her inspiration for her work comes from her love of nature and the environment. We look forward to her presentations with classes.

As part of the guidance teaching at HES, students learn about being safe on-line. We feel it is important

to inform families of on-line safety concerns that students have shared.  Recently students have

reported “pop ups” suggesting violence in families.  These “pop ups” have been seen by students when

they are on various video games, TikTok and watching You Tube (ex. Peppa Pig was named specifically). 

We encourage all parents to continue to monitor what children are exposed to online and to have

ongoing check-in conversations about thinking critically about what they see and hear online.  We will

 continue to have these educational conversations at school as well. 

With the nicer weather and more daylight hours, it is important to keep routines in place, including completing homework and bedtimes.  This will help students be more successful at school as they complete daily learning tasks.
