Important information about the week of Oct 22-26th

Good afternoon from Frank L. Bowser School,

The following contains important information regarding some happenings at Frank L Bowser School this week.

A reminder of the information session tomorrow at 4pm in the Frank L. Bowser Gym for all of our newest family members who have a student joining us for Kindergarten next year in September 2019.  The K Team will be sharing important information regarding the upcoming EYEDA testing scheduled for all students beginning Kindergarten in the fall along with other information and events taking place throughout this year designed to prepare our newest students for their first days of School in the fall.

Please find attached to this email information regarding our Frank L. Bowser Clothing Sale going on now until Oct 30.

Also attached to this email is information regarding a Used Book Sale taking place this coming Wednesday Oct 24th at Frank L. Bowser School from 6 to 8 pm.  We are accepting book donations anytime over the next couple of days.  Books can be dropped off at the FLB office and are very much appreciated.

Popcorn will be for sale by our dedicated Home and School Volunteers Wednesday Oct 24th this week for one dollar a bag and will be delivered to students on Thursday.  Thanks to all involved in making this healthy treat possible for our students.

Mitch Short the Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention joined us this afternoon for a Fire Drill.  He was very impressed with the process followed and the wonderful behaviour of all of our students during this important practice drill.

This week on Wednesday Oct 24th, we will be practicing our Lockdown Drill mandated by the Provincial Safe Schools Plan.  Students will be well informed before the drill by their classroom teacher.  The drill consists of students going in to a “Hold and secure” format in their learning environment away from window and doors and giving their attention to the educators in the room and remaining silent for a set period of time behind a locked classroom door.  All efforts are made to ensure that students are comfortable with this practice and are not frightened by the nature of the drill.  Please feel free to contact the school if you have any further questions about the nature of this practice and please speak to your child on Wednesday upon their return from the school day regarding how the drill went.

Following our Lockdown Drill we will be travelling to our Alternate Safe Place outside of our school as a full student population.  We will be heading out the back of the school, across Pine Glen Road and gathering at The Riverview Funeral Home and then heading back to continue our learning day.  This practice is weather permitting.

Finally, I want to thank the entire community for all the messages and well wishes during my absence at the beginning of the school year.  I would also like to thank publically the talented and dedicated team of educators we have here at Frank L. Bowser School that ensured the best educational experience possible for your children continued throughout my absence.

Have an amazing week!

Jonathan Godbout
