Good morning from Frank L. Bowser School.
We are reaching out to you today with a couple of updates
We are very proud of our school community during the
transition back into the classrooms.
Things are running very smoothly while our team works extremely hard to
ensure a safe and positive environment for our students. A huge thank you goes out to our educators and
cleaning staff for tackling the task at hand with such style and grace while
maintaining an overall positive and productive environment within our
school. It is so wonderful to have our students
back doing what they do best!
Please note that that our attendance records are being
tracked very carefully and it is more important than ever to code the reason
for a student’s absence accurately when using our safe arrival system.
As we head into October, we are looking forward to
implementing some of the programing outside of the classroom that we held off
on throughout September. Please be on
the lookout for more information about our food services, parent committees and
organizations, as well as volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks.
Thank you to the seventy five percent of you that have paid
student fees through school cash online and have completed the required online
forms. We have broken a record; this is
the most participation we have had this early in the year since implementing
the online system. Thanks so much! We would appreciate anyone who has not
already done so to please complete this mandatory task as soon as possible using
the link below.
Students will be taking part in a Terry Fox Walk throughout
this week. Classes will be going outside
for a stroll with their classroom bubble after learning about Terry Fox and the
organization founded in his name in support of cancer research. Although we will not be collecting actual
Toonies for Terry this year, we have set up the opportunity to donate a toonie
in your child’s name to the Terry Fox Foundation through School Cash Online. All proceeds will go directly to the Terry
Fox Foundation. Please donate with your
child present in order to preserve the learning opportunity surrounding
supporting important organizations and missions such as the Terry Fox
Foundation and cancer research.
A reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday September 30th,
is Orange Shirt Day at Frank L. Bowser School.
Tomorrow students are asked to wear orange and will learn about and discuss
some of the experiences Indigenous People had with residential schools in
Canada. The story of the “orange” shirt will be shared in terms of its
origin and its current symbolism.
Finally, a reminder that Friday is PICTURE DAY. Students will have their picture taken throughout
the day on Friday. Packages will be
available for purchase and proofs will be sent home with students at the end of
the day on Friday October 2nd.
Thanks everyone, have a phenomenal rest of your day!
