Good evening,

This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

Thank you to our volunteers this school year.  Unfortunately, we are unable to celebrate you by hosting our annual Volunteer Tea due to COVID-19 restrictions. Students decided to make a banner to express their gratitude. The banner is showcased on our cafeteria window next to the Kiss and Ride.  We are all so grateful for your time, dedication and help in making this very different school year as “normal” as possible.

Tomorrow is New Brunswick Anglophone School Districts Student Appreciation Day.  As you know this school year has been an exceptional challenge for everyone in education, especially the students.  Their ability to adapt and their resiliency are admired.  We want to take the opportunity to share our gratitude with our students.  Tomorrow, students will receive a sticker as a tangible token of appreciation.  Teachers have also been encouraged to do some special activities with their class bubble to celebrate this occasion.  We acknowledge that COVID-19 has impacted our ability to show school spirit in the traditional ways.  We hope his will be a fun and celebratory way to show our students our gratitude for all their hard work.

Have a restful evening,

Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis

We will be selling the Tru Earth Eco-Strips which are an environmentally friendly way to clean laundry.

The strips are ultra-concentrated, hypoallergenic, and eco-friendly; just one strip will power through dirt and grime in all types of
washing machines, including high-efficiency (HE). Additionally, they are:
• paraben-free
• phosphate-free
• free of added dyes
• free of chlorine bleach
• free of 1,4-dioxane
• biodegradable
• vegan
• NO PLASTIC BOTTLES! ZERO WASTE!
• MADE IN CANADA!

Our school will earn 20% of the profit from every purchase. This will help fulfill our fundraising needs while doing the earth a great deal of good! All products are shipped directly to the purchaser without any shipping charges.

Check out our online store at:

https://fundraising.tru.earth/MaplehurstMiddle

The menu shows all of the products and you can sign up to create an account.

The campaign will remain open so you can place orders at your convenience and replenish your stock as needed.

Talk mail--April 22nd, 2021

Good evening,

This message is from Evergreen Park School,

We are very proud to announce the accomplishments of the following students:

RYAN GUNN WRITE FOR BOOKS

Nolan Johnson and co-authors Dianya Wang and Liam Talbot were the winners of the Ryan Gunn Write for Books contest; their books will be published.  These students are in Mme Belliveau’s grade 5 French Immersion classroom.  Not too many students can say  they are published authors!   Congratulations on your accomplishment!

FRYE FESTIVAL—IMAGINATION AT WORK

Congratulations to the following students for having their work showcased on the Frye Festival-Imagination at Work website.

  1. Charlotte Doyle---Grade 1 Immersion
  2. Zachary Hunter---Grade 3 Immersion
  3. Graeson Grant—Grade 4 English
  4. Georgia Pohier—Grade 4 Immersion.

Bravo for your great work!

COMPOSER IN THE MAKING

We have an aspiring composer amongst us at EPS.  This grade 2 French Immersion student’s name is Emma Nikmaram.  Her first composition is “Stars Danced in her Eyes”.  She created this melody with a little help from her 12-year-old brother. Her melody was selected and performed by the Kentucky Chamber Orchestra, on March 21st, 2021. The Kentucky Chamber Orchestra decided to showcase Emma’s melody on YouTube kids in the hope of inspiring other children to be creative and stay healthy during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This video is available for public on the following link: https://youtu.be/VbNC3REsOQ8 (Emma’s melody is at the end of the video). We are very proud of you Emma!  Who knows…. we may be hearing Emma’s melodies on the radio in the years to come!

Head lice are tiny insects that live on your scalp and need human blood to survive.  Anyone can get them, especially school-aged children.  They are considered very contagious and are spread through head-to-head contact or by sharing personal items such as brushes, hats, scarves, headphones …  Head lice have nothing to do with personal cleanliness.  Please take the time to check your child’s hair tonight.  A couple of cases have been reported at school.  If you see any nits or lice, a treatment is required.  Please do not forget to inform the school. Thank you for your help in this matter.

For $1.00 students can come to school tomorrow wearing their pajamas and sporting their silliest hairdo.  Money collected will be deposited in our Goodwill fund.  This fund helps our families in need.

Have a restful evening,

Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis

Please VOTE for Elsipogtog for Kraft Hockeyville 2021!

Good Morning,

Elsipogtog is a community within the Anglophone North School District – they are our neighbours.  Very recently, they were selected as one of four finalists for Kraft Hockeyville 2021 (the only representative from Atlantic Canada)!

With the sad news coming out of Elsipogtog this past weekend, we want to show our support and help rally the voting to ensure that they reach their goal of becoming Kraft Hockeyville 2021.

In this difficult time for their community, we can show our support with every single vote.

Elsipogtog & Hockeyville Bid - Elsipogtog is a valued member of our neighbouring ASD-N community, and we are committed to supporting them in their bid to become Kraft Hockeyville 2021.

Talk mail--March 30th, 2021

Good evening,

This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

Please be advised that tomorrow students will receive their term 2 report card.  Please take some time to review your child’s report card with them.  Praise your child on their accomplishments and discuss how they can achieve higher results in the areas that require some growth, and together set goals that will help your child experience greater success next term.

Teachers of grade 1, grade 2, grade 3 and grade 5 English classes will be scheduling virtual and phone call interviews with their students’ parents to discuss student achievements.

Kindergarten teachers, grade 4 teachers and grade 5 French Immersion teachers will send home student portfolios that showcase student work and activities done throughout term 2.  Please ask your child to talk about their work habits, present their portfolio and share some of the activities they have done in class.  If you require a meeting with your child’s teacher, please send a request and the teacher will make the necessary arrangements to schedule a virtual meeting or phone call.  Most of these meetings will occur during the week of April 12 with the majority happening during the evening of April 13th and the morning of April 14th.

A friendly reminder that there is no school on Friday, April 2nd (Good Friday) and Monday, April 5th (Easter Monday).  Students will also not have school on Wednesday, April 14th   due to Parent-Teacher interviews and professional learning in the afternoon for staff.

Thank you to all parents that are parking their car in the designated parking spots in the school’s parking lot and walking to their child’s pick- up area during dismissal.  Your cooperation and understanding are much appreciated.

Please continue encouraging your children to arrive on time for school.  All students should be in school by the 8:00 a.m. morning bell.

To our EPS families celebrating Easter, we wish you all the best.  Enjoy your family and friends during this special time of year.

May you always be safe and healthy!

Have a restful evening,

Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis

Good evening,

This message is from Evergreen Park School.

All Evergreen Park School Home and School clothing orders have now been distributed.  If you have any inquiries regarding your order, please send an email to ephomeandschool@gmail.com.

In these past few weeks, we have seen an increase in tardy arrivals.  This is a friendly reminder that students must be at school by 8:00 a.m.  Please help us instill the importance of being on time; punctuality is an important life skill.  We need to minimize disruptions to our morning routine that is so important to our students’ learning.  For many students, this structure helps make their day more successful.

On Wednesday, February 17th, 2021, your child will bring home a notice detailing a garbage bag fundraiser organized by our Home and School association.  Since Evergreen Park School is now a K-5 school, more playground equipment would make recess a more pleasant experience for all children.   Home and School will host several fundraisers throughout the next few years to make their plan a reality.  All money collected will contribute to our Playground Equipment Fund.  Due to COVID -19 restrictions, orders should reflect one family bubble only. The fundraiser will take place from February 17th until March 10th, 2021.

Please remember to respect the signage in the parking lot area.  The established plan is to ensure student and staff safety.

A huge thank you to our EPS families and our wonderful Home and School for their best wishes, awesome gifts, and food to mark Staff Appreciation Week.  All kind and thoughtful gestures were much appreciated.

Please remember that there is no school on Monday, February 15th, 2021 due to New Brunswick Family Day.

Happy Valentine's Day to all of our EPS families!

Have a restful and wonderful long weekend,

Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis
