Positive COVID 19 cases-Operational Day December 7

Evergreen Park School

Positive COVID cases--Operational Day tomorrow--December 7th, 2021

December 6, 2021 Dear Evergreen Park Families:

Re: POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE AT Evergreen Park School This is to inform you that Public Health has confirmed a positive COVID-19 case at Evergreen Park.

Tuesday, December 7th will be an Operational Day for Evergreen with students learning at home.

Having this Operational Day tomorrow will allow Public Health time to confirm those who have been identified as a close contact. You will be informed if you have been in close contact with the confirmed case and will be informed with a letter from the school including directions from Public Health for next steps.

If you have not been contacted, please closely self-monitor for symptoms and get tested should any develop. We understand you may feel anxious over the coming days. Public Health will work with the school, and you will receive an email with a letter from the school if your child has been in close contact with the confirmed case and will tell you if your child needs to self-isolate. If you do not receive an email, your child should closely selfmonitor for symptoms this week and get tested should any develop. It is natural to want to know if your child may have been exposed to the virus. Public Health officials will inform those who are at risk of the next steps, but to protect the privacy of students and school personnel, other details including names, will not be released. Children and young people look to the adults in their lives to guide them on how to react to worrying and stressful events. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about any anxieties and remind them to treat one another with kindness and respect, in person and on social media.

If your child is showing any symptoms of COVID-19, you should:

1. Register them online for a test by clicking “Get tested” on the GNB corona virus website (www.gnb.ca/coronavirus), or

2. Contact Tele-Care 811, or

3. Contact your primary care provider.

Thank you for your cooperation and support,

Pamela Wilson

Your Announcement Title

Talk mail--Sunday, November 28th, 2021

Good evening,
This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

Walk a Thon
THANK YOU for your donations!
EPS students and staff celebrated a successful Walk a Thon school fundraiser.  Thank you to the Walk a Thon Committee for organizing the event as well as all of you for supporting the school.   EPS students were able to raise a total of $6301.40.  We will use this amount to purchase iPads for our school.
Tomorrow, students will be walking on the span of the Northwest walking trial to promote a healthy lifestyle and to celebrate the end of this year’s main school fundraiser.  As snow is expected for tomorrow, please make sure children are dressed appropriately... (warm clothes, ski pants/splash pants, boots, hat, mittens/gloves, scarf).  If the weather does not cooperate, this activity will take place on Tuesday, November 30th.

Report cards
Students will receive their first term report card tomorrow. Please look at your child’s report card closely and discuss with your child their successes and areas of focus.  Together set attainable goals that will help your child experience greater success next term.  Please remember that the comment sheet needs to be signed and returned to the school in the original envelope.

Parent-Teacher interviews
Due to COVID restrictions, parent-teacher interviews once again will be done virtually or via telephone. Some teachers will start calling as early as Tuesday, November 30th until Friday, December 3rd.  If you are not available during this designated period, you may schedule another time to discuss your child’s progress.

No school on Friday, December 3
Students are to stay home on Friday, December 3rd due to parent-teacher interviews and professional learning for the staff in the afternoon.

Kiss and Drop
This is a friendly reminder that starting Wednesday, December 1st parents are asked to drop off their child at their respective playgrounds and then leave school grounds.  Please do not wait for the bell to ring before leaving.  Adults wearing an orange vest are on supervision duty starting at 7:40 a.m. They will watch over your children as done during snack and noon recess. It is getting difficult distinguishing parents/guardians from adults that should not be on the school’s premises.  Thank you for understanding and for your cooperation.  Together we will keep the children safe.

Parking lot
Please continue to be vigilant when driving in the parking lot.  I respectfully ask you only park in designated areas, respect the signage around  and PLEASE reduce your speed.  The safety of all is our priority.

Picture retakes
Harveys Studios will be at school on Tuesday, December 7th for picture retakes.

Have a restful evening and make it a great week,

Good evening,

Please be cognizant of the heavy traffic in our parking lot during morning and afterschool dismissal.  This will prevent anyone from getting hurt. Please be mindful when parking your vehicle.  We only have a few accessibility parking spaces in our parking lot that are intended for parents whose children have exceptionalities.  If you are using these spaces, your blue placard should be visible.  Please do not park your vehicle in non -designated areas...these spaces are clearly marked.  Moreover, when driving in the parking lot, you must reduce your speed.  The safety of students and staff is being compromised.

Let’s work together to keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your understanding.

Talk mail--Friday, October 22, 2021

Good afternoon,

This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

Walk-a-thon--FUNDRAISING

We are having a Walk-a-thon at Evergreen Park School.  This will be the school’s major fundraiser of the year. Students and staff will be walking on a span of the Northwest walking trail to promote a healthy lifestyle, raise money to support school activities, guest speakers (in person or virtually) and other resources needed at the school. Your child is bringing home a package today explaining this fundraiser in detail.Good afternoon,

Kiss and Drop
Thank you to all parents that are encouraging independence by kissing their child goodbye and leaving the school grounds.  If you feel as though you need to stay, please distance yourself from the children by standing near the back of the playground near the fence. In a few weeks, parents will be asked to leave the playground once children are in their respective area.  It is getting difficult distinguishing parents/guardians from adults that should not be on the school’s premises. Students are accustomed to being on the playground on their own during morning and lunch recess.  Adults wearing an orange vest are present in the morning at 7:40 a.m. to supervise students and keep them safe.  Thank you for your understanding.  We will all work together to help keep our most vulnerable healthy and safe.

PSSC
Thank you to the parents that have accepted our school’s invitation to be part of the PSSC committee.  We are still in need of a few parent/guardians.  If you can help us out, please call the school at 856-3476 and leave your name and contact information with either Mrs. Tingley or Mrs. Beaumont, administrative assistants.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis

October 12
Mme Gallant's Grade 5 homeroom ONLY

Dear     Mme Gallant's grade 5  Evergreen Park School      Families,

You are receiving this email because your student has been identified as a close contact of a positive case of COVID-19 in our school. On October 5th, the Province of NB announced a Rapid Testing Program for students who are identified as close contacts.  To pick up the test kit s and instructions, we ask families to come to the school today Tuesday, October 12th between   1 :30 p.m. -5:00 p.m. To limit the number of people in the school please call    856-3476    when you arrive and we will deliver the test kits to you. If you are not available to pick them up at that time, please let the school know and we will attempt to make alternate arrangements.

Students who choose to participate in this program can return to school as soon as they produce two negative tests in a 24 hour period as long as they have no symptoms. If you do not wish your child to participate in rapid testing, they will have to isolate for a period of time determined by Public Health.

Please read the following directions carefully:

  • You will receive   5 tests in your kit. The test involves taking a nasal swab. The kit will come with instructions on how to perform the test.
  • Perform the first test on Tuesday, October 12th and a second test on the morning of  Wednesday, October 13th, before school. These two tests should be performed at least 12 hours apart.
  • Store the used test cartridges in a small plastic bag (e.g. Ziplock bag/sandwich bag). Your child will need to bring the bag with both test cartridges to school on Wednesday, October 13th to demonstrate that they received two negative tests in a row.
  • Continue testing each morning for the rest of the school week ( October 14 and 15). Students can continue attending school as long as the tests are negative and they have no symptoms. Each day the test cartridge must be brought to school in a small bag to demonstrate that it is negative.
  • If your child is absent a day, you should still test them on those days and return the proof of negative tests with them on the day they return.
  • Quantities of kits are limited. The tests are intended for your child identified as a close contact only.
  • At any time, if your child receives a positive result on the rapid COVID test, they must self-isolate and you must call 811 to arrange for confirmation testing or book a test online at www.gnb.ca/coronavirus.

Please note: the rapid tests have a short expiration timeframe. The expiration date is labelled on each kit. If your kit’s expiration date is within the timeframe your child is required to test, your child will receive an additional kit of fresh tests when they return to school, to complete their testing.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. send comments or suggestions to asdeinfo@nbed.nb.ca.

School is incredibly important for the overall wellbeing of our students- not only for learning but for their mental and physical health. We hope that your child will participate in this program and we thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 Global Pandemic together. Student safety remains our priority.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis

October 10th, 2021  (2nd talk mail)

Good evening,
This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

Adopt- A- School
On behalf of the staff and students at Evergreen Park school we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To John Roberts and his staff at Chapters, Moncton we will be forever grateful for all your hard work and dedication. Chapters, Moncton was able to raise $ 6 150.00 to help replenish our school’s library!  Kudos to the Indigo Adopt A School Program for putting books in the hands of our children.

Breakfast Program
A friendly reminder that all students are welcome to attend our breakfast program if they do not have time to eat breakfast at home.  At 7:30 a.m. students may enter through the main entrance doors to the left and go to the cafeteria.  Students will be asked to sanitize their hands prior to entering the cafeteria, practice social distancing and wear their mask and only remove it when eating and drinking.  If you wish to volunteer, please call the school, and leave your name and contact information.

Home and School Fundraiser
The Home and School fundraiser packages were sent home on Friday.  Unfortunately, we did not receive enough packages for all students.  We are hoping this will be rectified soon.  If you received a package and will like to place an order, please ask your child to give the order to their homeroom teacher. All orders should be sent in a ziplocked baggie, or all paperwork and money should be stapled together. Any inquiries will be passed on to our Home and School.

Vital Information Forms/Student Fees
If you have not returned the vital information form, please update the information, and return the form with your child by Wednesday, October 13th.
All student fees were due September 30th.  If you are unable to pay the fees, please contact Mrs. Panagiotakis, principal, so arrangements can be made.

Arriving on Time/Late arrivals/Absent
This is a friendly reminder that students must be at school by 8:00 a.m. Please help us instill the importance of being on time; punctuality is an important life skill.  We need to minimize disruptions to our morning routine that is so important to our students’ learning.  For many, this structure helps to make their day more successful.  If your child will be absent or tardy due to an appointment, please remember to call the Safe Arrival line.  The main entrance doors to the left will remain unlocked until 8:30 a.m. All students must enter through these doors when late.  Please remind your child that if they arrive late, they must go to the office and sign in prior to going to their homeroom.

No School on Monday
School will be closed on Monday, October 11th for Thanksgiving celebrations.  School will reopen on Tuesday for all student except for the students in Mrs. Gallant’s grade 5 homeroom. These students are asked to self-isolate at home.  On Tuesday, we will send out a talk mail to those families informing them  when they can come to school and pick up the quick COVID testing kits.  Please keep in mind that a student must self-isolate for 24 hours and bring back to school as proof both negative COVID 19 strips (results) prior to being allowed back in school.

Happy Thanksgiving
The staff and I would like to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I am so thankful to be able to spend my days with your wonderful children and very hard working professional staff ...a blessing for me indeed!

Please keep safe and healthy…. enjoy your family time,
Mrs. Antigone Panagiotakis
Principal

October 10, 2021

Dear Evergreen Families:

Please be advised that a student at Evergreen has recently tested positive for Covid 19.

We understand you may feel anxious over the coming days. Public Health will work with the school, and you will receive an email with a letter from the school if your child has been in close contact with the confirmed case and will tell you if your child needs to self-isolate.

If you do not receive an email, your child should closely self-monitor for symptoms this week and get tested should any develop.

School will be open on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 .  If there are any changes, you will be contacted.

Thank you for your cooperation and support,

Mrs. Pamela Wilson

Evergreen Park School

Thursday, September 30th, 2021

Good evening,

This talk mail is from Evergreen Park School.

School reopens tomorrow

School will resume tomorrow Friday, October 1st for all students except for the students in Mrs. Dryden’s grade 5 classroom.  These students will be home learning until October 9th and after receiving a negative COVID -19 test.

Please remember to send your child to school with two clean masks.

Kiss and Walk

To foster independence, we are encouraging all parents to walk their child to their respective playgrounds, kiss them goodbye and leave the school grounds.  This will alleviate the congestion we are currently experiencing every morning during entrance. Supervision starts at 7:40 a.m.

Orange Shirt Day

Due to our school closure today, we will be celebrating Orange Shirt Day on Friday, October 1st.  Please encourage your child to wear orange in honour of our indigenous children.

Breakfast Club

I am pleased to announce that with the help of parents, community volunteers and school staff, our breakfast program will open its doors on October 4th.  All students are welcome to attend if they did not have time to eat breakfast at home.  At 7:30 a.m. students may enter through the main entrance doors and go to the cafeteria. Students will be asked to sanitize their hands prior to entering the cafeteria.     Two students will be allowed to eat at the round tables and four students will be allowed to eat at the long rectangular tables.  Social distancing will be enforced, and all students may only remove their masks when eating or drinking.  Fresh fruit (oranges and apples), yogurt, milk and cereal will be offered.

Have a restful evening,

This is to inform you that Public Health has confirmed a positive COVID-19 case at Evergreen Park School.
