April 09
April 9, 2021

Today is Friday, April 9th and this is Mrs. Godfrey with some messages from Caledonia Regional.

Report cards will go home with high school students on Monday, April 12th.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit our Caledonia website to schedule a virtual conference with subject teachers.  These conferences can be by phone as in the fall.  For this round, we have added an online option as well.  Conferences can be scheduled for Tuesday evening – April 13th - from 6-8 pm and again on Wednesday morning – April 14th – from 8:30 – 11:30 am.  There is no school for students in Grades 6 – 12 on Wednesday.

Our cafeteria will re-open on Monday, April 12th.  This is good news for all students in grades 6 through 12.

On Monday the 12th, we welcome back all our high school students to full time in school / in person learning.  Online teaching ends and the track system (A, B and C) dissolves on Monday.  Our updated and detailed Operational Plan can be found on our school website under Quick Links and I have attached a copy to my email message today for your convenience.

Our Middle school will continue to operate as per our original Operational Plan.  The significant changes affect high school operations.

·        Learning is full time and in person for all high school students in grades 9 – 12.

·        Masks are always required to be worn by students in grades 9 – 12 and by staff with these students.  Exceptions for students are when they are seated to eat or engaged in activities in Phys Ed class.

·        When outside, Public Health Guidelines must be followed including masks worn in all public places.  This includes our parking lot and village sidewalks.

·        We have two distinct lunch times – one for Grades 9 & 10 and one for Grades 11 & 12.  This is to reduce the number of students in our cafeteria and to provide this as a safe and physically distanced space for our high school students. Middle School students will continue to eat in their supervised classroom bubbles.

·        All staff and students are reminded to complete passive screening each morning before coming into the building.  If staff or students are exhibiting any one symptom from the list, they are reminded to follow the direction of Public Health and not enter the building.

We are on the home stretch in terms of the school year and we want to all work together to hold the line.  COVID-19 has not gone away.  There are cases appearing in our province each day and the variants are also very worrisome.  We know what a school closure does to student learning because we have experienced it firsthand.  Although we cannot fully prevent something like this from happening again, we can rest easy knowing that we have done all we can to lower the risk of transmission.  We will continue to passively screen, stay home when we are not feeling well, sanitize our hands and our workstations, wear our masks in school and in public, and maintain a safe physical distance.

I want to thank you all for your continued co-operation this school year.  The last time we were all together was March 13th 2020.  I am very excited to have all our students learning together in our building on Monday.

Have a great weekend! See you Monday Tigers!
