Talk Mail - February 10th, 2020

TALKMAIL Message                                                                        Monday, February 10th, 2020

Course selection process began in Homeroom class today.  Grade 9, 10 and 11 students will have another Homeroom period tomorrow to finish up their selections.  On the BMHS website, parents will be able to view the course selection forms under the title QUICK LINKS (on the right side of the page) and the presentations for each department provided to students last week under the documents tab at the top.  These documents are available if you wish to discuss this with your child prior to the sheet coming home on Friday, February 14th for parental signature.

The green student profile sheets were sent home for updates today.   Please have your child return the verified form as soon as possible to the Homeroom teacher at the school.  It is vital that we have correct information for your child in case of an emergency.

Grade 10 students will receive more information about the initiative below  on Feb. 18th during a short assembly:

ATLANTIC YOUTH CHALLENGE TO PREVENT DRUGGED DRIVING – THE PROGRAM

In Atlantic Canada, the John Howard Societies, RCMP, Université de Moncton, and local high schools are coming together to deliver a Challenge to Youth to Prevent Drugged Driving. Through professionally guided, youth led school campaigns, students will be presented with messages which will enable them to make informed, healthier decisions regarding cannabis use and decrease the problematic behavior of driving impaired.

The evidenced based program design guides students to become advocates for positive change in respect to cannabis use and drugged driving. Students are asked non identifier survey questions, at the beginning and end of the school campaigns, which would indicate if the program positively influenced their decision-making and reduced risk behaviors. Schools whose students led the most informative and creative messaging are provided the opportunity to continue their message through community engagement activities.    If there are any interested leaders from Grade 10 who would like to support this initiative, please give your name to the main office.

There will be no school on Monday, February 17th due to Family day holiday
