What’s Happening at Bernice MacNaughton High School

Friday, November 15th, 2019

The Annual Fall fundraiser organized by the BMHS parent committee, Friends of the Highlanders, is tomorrow evening, Saturday, November 16th.   Join us for a beautiful evening with a silent and live auction beginning at  7:00pm.   We have great items such as Habs tickets, Via Rail passes, tissues for a year and Pizza for a year.  The funds raised supports students in need and purchases important equipment for the school.  Thank you for your support, hope to see you there!

On Wednesday November 20th Highlanders are invited to wear red to show your support for diversity. Wearing red is a simple way to show that you care, and you want to include everyone. Voluntary donations to Kid's Help Phone will be collected by clan leaders in a short homeroom.

Grade 9 Students have been working on a Big Question Project in their Advisory classes.  Over the past 3 weeks, students have been brainstorming and researching a topic they are curious about and should be nearing the product stage.  Students can choose how they demonstrate their learning through a poster, trifold, video or another medium of their choice.  All students are expected to have a product to share at the Showcase that will take place on December 11 during the school day, exact times to follow.   Please take some time this weekend to ask your gr 9 student about their Big Question Project.

It’s time to FILL the BUS, Highlanders!! Please send canned and other non-perishable food items in with your child as often as you can in the next couple weeks while BMHS leads our local schools for Food Depot Alimentaire. Let’s make it the best year yet!

The Santa Claus Parade is taking place on Nov 23rd.  BMHS is looking for students to help build and ride on the float.  Please see Mrs. Carpenter or Mr. Trider for more details.

On November 19th during the lunch hour a representative from the Saint Francis Xavier University will be outside guidance to answer questions and provide information to students about the university.
