If you wish to place an order for school photos, we encourage you to follow the steps for online ordering in the package.   If you are unable to place an order online, you can send the order form back to the school by November 22nd at the latest.  The company indicated that orders placed by this date will be available by Christmas.

Just a reminder that Parent Teacher interviews are being held virtually tonight and tomorrow, Friday, Nov 19th in the morning.  Please respect your scheduled appointment timeframe so that teachers can honor the appointment times for other parents/guardians.

Any parent/guardian wishing to purchase BMHS clothing as Christmas gifts for their Highlanders can contact Barb Wasson by e-mail: barbara.wasson@nbed.nb.ca to arrange a time to come into the school.  The store sells hoodies for $40, sweatpants for $35, masks for $7, t-shirts for $20 and much more.

The School Counsellors are using a new online system where students can book their own appointments. To book an appointment students click on the “BMHS Counselling Appointment for Students” on the BMHS Website. There are also posters in the school with QR codes that students can scan with their phone. If students have any difficulty making an appointment they should check in with their counsellor at school.

SAVE THE DATE:  Bernice MacNaughton High School is proud to be hosting international speaker Dr. Michael Ungar on Dec 2nd in the evening for a virtual session open to Parents/Guardians and students.  We will be surveying students next week to gauge their level of resilience in preparation for his presentation.  The evening presentation topic will be  “Nurturing Resilience: Nine Ways Families, Schools, and Communities can Help Children Thrive”.   We have included some links to Dr. Ungar’s YouTube channel for a sneak peak and his biographical information below.

A Conversation with Dr. Michael Ungar - Author of Change Your World - YouTube

Michael Ungar, Ph.D. is the founder and Director of the Resilience Research Centre at Dalhousie University. His ground-breaking work as a family therapist and resilience researcher is recognized around the world, with much of that work focused on the resilience of marginalized children and families, and adult populations experiencing mental health challenges at home and in the workplace. Dr. Ungar has provided consultation and training to Fortune 500 companies like Unilever and Cigna, NGOs such as Save The Children and the Red Cross, and educational institutions and government agencies on five continents. He is routinely called upon by thought leaders such as the Boston Consulting Group and Canvas8. His work emphasizes how to use the theory of resilience to increase both individual and institutional agility during crises, with numerous organizations having adopted his concept of resilience as a negotiated process that enhances wellbeing and social responsibility.   https://michaelungar.com/
