Best Buy Grant $9087.00 received by Lou MacNarin School

Students at Lou MacNarin School have been empowered to explore a range of science concepts in our CLIC Lab.  (Collaborate, Learn, Innovate, Create).  This lab allowed children to experience personalized learning in a STEM environment.  Through exploration they were able to develop deeper understanding of the scientific thought process.  This innovation led staff to wonder if we could provide these deeper learning activities to more students in our school.  We applied for the Best Buy STEM Grant to fund the purchase of tools for hands on learning that builds transferable skills for our students.  We are thrilled to announce that our bid was successful and Best Buy delivered a cheque for $9087 this week to our school.  We competed against 740 schools for this opportunity.   We are excited about the opportunities that will come from scientific inquiry being embedded in our daily practice at our Kindergarten to grade 5 school.

PALS BBQ

Lou MacNarin School celebrated all of our + 1 Learning with our PALS from the Irving Group.  Students were treated to a BBQ lunch after an eventful morning of field day activities.  Students from Lewisville Middle School came over to Lou MacNarin with Mr. Thibault to organize and run our field day fun.  It was a morning of  activities to help us celebrate with our friends. We are grateful for the support received by the PALS at our school.  Weekly mentoring makes a world of difference for a child.  Celebration of our learning is a wonderful way to wrap up the year.  Special thanks to Denise Gauvin and Pamela Galley for organizing the BBQ.

Talent Show

On June 19th, Mrs. Rossiter, our music teacher has organzied a talent show for the school.  Children have been practicing their performances and are anxious to showcase their talents for friends at school.  It should be a lot of fun and we are excited for our students to share their passions with each other.

Grade 5 Sock Hop

Our grade 5 class will be celebrating together the end of a very busy year on June 20th.  We worked hard on our + 1 learnings to prepare for middle school.  The teachers - Madame West, Madame Melanson Stiles, Madame L. Roy, Madame Hale and Madame J. Roy have organized the event and are looking forward to a late afternoon of fun with their classes.  The event is casual dress and healthy snacks will be served.  Congratulations to all of our Grade 5's who will be moving on to Lewisville Middle School.

Grade 3 - 5 Awards

Students in grades 3 - 5 will be celebrating learning on Thursday, June 21.  We will gather in the gym to recognize the achievements of our students. We have been working hard on personalizing our learning - working everyday on +1 learning goals.  Students have made many gains and we are very proud of the progress they have made.  We are hoping that they will continue to ask questions and find things to wonder about over the summer.  We want our children to be critical thinkers who work together to solve complex problems.
