It has been a year like no other, but we all had the GRIT to get through it. We wish you all a happy and healthy summer!!

Bussing for the Fall of 2022-2023

As we close in on the last full day on June 24, we continue to prepare for 2022-2023 school year. I’ve attached a document from the transportation department, on how parents can access busing information via BusPlanner.  The transportation department will be releasing next year’s data on June 20.  BusPlanner subscribers will also be getting a message, once school ends, to request they confirm their data mid-August to ensure our busing and address information are accurate.

March 15
March 15 - Message for Families

Good afternoon! Today is Tuesday, March 15 and this is a message for all Raiders and their families.

As you know, the province has lifted all Covid restrictions and protocols in schools. However, many, many of our Raiders (staff & students) continue to wear their masks. We support this choice, as well as those Raiders who choose not to wear a mask.

We do still encourage everyone to practice good hand hygiene and hand sanitizer is available in every classroom. Teachers are also asked to continue the practice of sanitizing desktops at the end of each class.

We are very excited to return to a more “normal” RVMS. ASAP has started and the schedules for each grade are attached and are posted on our website (look in the “About Us” tab). Students may have the privilege to participate or leave at 2:35 but may also be expected to stay until the end of the school day, which is 3:10.

Tryouts for varsity volleyball continue this week. Second tryouts are Weds for the boy’s team and Thursday for the girl’s team. Tryouts are closed to spectators and participating students will need to be picked up at 4:00. Once tryouts are completed, team rosters will be posted (likely early next week).

We continue to encourage our Raiders to use their cellphones appropriately. We have a much more flexible cellphone policy than many schools as we see this as a learning opportunity, but we have advised our students that we may revert to the stricter district policy should we continue to have students violating the policy. There are absolutely no photos or videos to be taken at school and phones must be turned off during class time unless that teacher, that day, has given permission to use your phone.

Please support us by reminding your child that the use of phones during school is a privilege and requires them to be responsible phone users.

Spring also brings Report Card season and some other school holidays. Please check the list below.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at Trudy.McGrath@nbed.nb.ca or, on my direct line, at 738-6511.

Ms. T. McGrath

March 04
March 4 - Message to Families

Good afternoon! Today is Friday, March 4 and this is a message for all Raiders and their families.

As you know, the mandatory orders and restrictions will be dropped when students return to school on March 14. This means a return to our “normal” schedule” and activities.

It is very important to note that we will continue to have staff and students who may continue to wear their masks in the building, and we will be supportive of all Raiders regardless of their choice.

We will also continue to stress the use of hand sanitizer when entering a classroom and disinfecting desks at the end of each class.

We will model kindness and support to all Raiders as we transition back to a more “normal” school experience.

Having said that, our operational plan will return to normal which includes the end of classroom bubbles and hallway and movement restrictions. We will see a return to a full cafeteria and occasional pep rallies and assembles. As we have always done, we will provide support to those who find this stressful, but we will not be able to run separate activities in all situations.

A few other items:

1. We are happy to announce that after March Break we are heading into Volleyball season! Tryouts for the teams will be as follows:

Monday March 14th - Boys

Tuesday March 15th - Girls

Wednesday March 16th - Boys

Thursday March 17th - Girls

All tryouts start at ASAP (2:40) and end at 4:00. Students need to arrange their own drives home and come prepared with sneakers and gym wear.

Spectators are not allowed during tryouts or practices. We look forward to seeing everyone try out and wish them the best of luck!

2. ASAP will return. Please remember that our school day is from 8:40-3:10. Students may have the privilege to leave early (2:35) but may be required to stay and complete work etc. The ASAP schedules will be posted and sent to families on Monday, March 14.

3. Phones – we are discouraged to be dealing with many, many incidents of inappropriate phone use at school. Please remind your child that they have the privilege of phone use at school but also the responsibility to use their phones appropriately.

Have a wonderful, restful, and safe March Break!

Ms. T. McGrath

January 28
Jan 28 - Message for Families

Hey Raiders! Today is Friday, January 28 and this is a message for all Raiders and their families.

SCHOOL IS OPEN FOR ALL STUDENTS BEGINNING MONDAY, JANUARY 31!!

We are so excited to have our Raiders back with us at RVMS. WE can’t wait to see you on Monday!

I know you will have quite a few questions and I hope to answer some here.

1. We will run a regular schedule with regular bus runs.

2. Students should arrive at school between 7:55 and 8:40.

3. We will have a modified ASAP schedule for classroom bubbles.

4. Dismissal for those leaving before ASAP is 2:35 (walkers, pick-ups, Early Bus 347 and 398). Late dismissal and regular bus runs are at 3:10 for students staying for ASAP.

5. When you arrive at school in the morning, please proceed to your assigned side of the building and stay near your Homeroom class sign. You may take your mask off outside, when in your homeroom bubble.

6. All staff and students must wear a mask (preferably a three layered or N95 type) at all times while in the building. The only exception is when you are seated and eating or drinking.

7. We will alternate days in the cafeteria with social distancing between classroom bubbles as we did prior to the break. Monday, January 31 is Day A. Microwaves for each Homeroom will be available when in the cafeteria only.

8. Students should have 2 masks at school at all times. Students who have masks that do not cover their mouth and nose, or those who do not follow the expectations for mask wearing will not be allowed to stay at school.

9. If a student is absent, they should log that absence on the Safe Arrivals app. (see info on our school website). Messages and e-mails sent to teachers may not be received prior to the auto absence calls going out to families.

10. Schools are now operating in-person learning. No learning packets are available. Students are encouraged to check TEAMS as some teachers may post some work there for all students.

11. If a student has tested positive for Covid, or lives in a household where someone has tested positive for Covid, they must follow the guidelines on the attached document.

Covid Exposure in School - Notice for parents or guardians Jan 6 2022.pdfCovid Exposure in School - Notice for parents or guardians Jan 6 2022.pdf

                       https://secure1.nbed.nb.ca/sites/ASD-S/Pages/welcome.aspx

14. Families will not be notified of positive cases in schools. The only information on Covid in schools will be posted on the website above.

As always, if you have further questions about school, please contact us on our mainline at 738-6500 or you can contact Ms. McGrath at Trudy.McGrath@nbed.nb.ca
