Hello Parents and Guardians,

This afternoon and evening we were informed of additional Covid-19 cases at Park Street Elementary School. Anyone identified as a close contact will receive a letter from Public Health. This letter will be sent from your school principal and will provide specific instructions on what to do next. In the interest of safety and to help minimize the risk of spreading the virus, Point of Care Tests (POCTs or rapid tests) will be made available to all students within the school, not just close contacts. Information for families wishing to pick up rapid test kits has been shared by your principal this evening.

Please note that tomorrow, Thursday, December 2, students will not attend school. Instead, teachers will reach out to families with learning activities for the day. We recognize that the opportunity to connect with the school may vary among families. Please do not worry if you cannot connect. We understand that this is short notice, and we will adjust as required.

Please also note that Parent-Teacher-Interviews will continue on Thursday night and Friday as previously scheduled.

Friday will be a professional learning day, which means there will be no school for students. Therefore, students should plan to return to school next Monday, December 6, unless they are self-isolating. If we need to extend distance learning, you will be notified.

Please remember, if your child is showing any symptoms of Covid-19, you should:

Register them online for a test by clicking “Get tested” on the GNB coronavirus website (www.gnb.ca/coronavirus). OR

Contact Tele-Care 811. The 811 operators will evaluate your child before sending them for testing.

If you have health-related questions, please write to COVID-19NB@gnb.ca

Thank you for your continued support as we respond to the pandemic.

Sincerely,

Jay Colpitts, Director of Schools for Covid-19 Response
