Creeker Family Memo #8- Monday, October 12th, 2020

Memo for Garden Creek Parents and Guardians

Good morning Creeker Parents,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and the weather. A few notes for you:

Bussing  Safety Note–if your child is in grade 3-5 and take the bus, please meet them at the stop after school  or write a note for the school and the driver stating that you give permission for your child to walk home from the stop. Otherwise, if an adult is not at the stop, just as with K-2, the driver will need to bring them back to the school. Safety first!

Masks –   A reminder that students need to have 2  clean masks  for school every day, one of those being  in your child’s book bag as the extra one)  We have been going through a number of masks on our part for students who  may have forgotten theirs (and we all forget things from time to time, so we do understand )  .  Thank you for your help.

Survey for Parents/Guardians– Wow!  At least 200 of you have already responded to the tech survey .. but  a reminder to answer the survey that was sent out by Mme Robichaud  and the teachers last week. Please click on this link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=318rTdLEEUmHCWjML0Zcn60poYr1Gx9LjBSbzUZaLIJURFJXSDQwUDFXNENEVUc4QjBONjFMV1lCNi4u

Safe Schools Weekthe District Safe Schools Week is being held next week, October 19 – 23rd. For information purposes, I am attaching a letter that outlines the type of drills we will be undertaking that week and the dates for those drills. Garden Creek Safe Schools Week Letter to Parents 2020.docGarden Creek Safe Schools Week Letter to Parents 2020.doc

Please let me know if you have any concerns. Thank you.

Teaching Excellence Award Nomination–  We are very fortunate to have a strong staff at Garden Creek..if you feel one of our  educators is making a significant difference in the lives of ASD-W students, then this is a great opportunity to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to their profession. To honour them, if you feel so inclined, you could complete a nomination form for the Teaching in Excellence Award.  2020 Ministers Excellence in Education Awards Nomination Form.pdf2020 Ministers Excellence in Education Awards Nomination Form.pdf

The nomination form and additional information can be found at the EECD website at:https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/education/k12/content/anglophone_sector/awards.html and anomination form that can be completed electronically is also attached for your convenience.

We will once again be participating in our annual Creeker Trick or Eat Food Challenge. This is especially worthy this year as we know more families in the greater Fredericton area may need support.  Families will be encouraged to drop off specific food items  for the food bank throughout the weeks of October 30 – More to come on this . Thank you for your support as we move forward.

Home and School Committee! –A reminder that you can always join our Home and School Committee – we need help thinking outside the box in how we can support the school with financial needs while at the same time having fun in a new way!
