March 29th

Hi there fellow GuitArtists - I hope you're all managing to stay healthy and sane during these strange times!  We might get some direction from the Dept of Education about on line learning, but until then the focus remains on our mental and physical health.

For me, that means some exercise, reading, as well as Art and Music.  If you're interested here's what I've been doing:

I keep a regular sketchbook, so I draw in it every day.  If I run out of ideas...well, actually I haven't run out of any ideas yet!

I also play my guitar and mandolin every day.  I have a bunch of tunes I know, but I'm really trying to improve my mandolin playing, so I learn songs from an awesome website called mandolessons.com.  I'm sure you've used UltimateGuitar.com to learn songs, or maybe you hve other websites that have helped you.

So - I hope you're finding some time to be creative while we stay home and follow our government's instructions about social distancing.  Whether you're playing old songs you've known for years, or learning new techniques or new songs, casually drawing in your sketchbook or learning new drawing skills, I hope that creativity and the arts are helping you get through the pandemic!

Music 9, Guitar 10 and ELA 9 Course Updates

I hope this message finds you all safe and well. Please take this time to focus on your hobbies, physical and mental well-being for both yourself, family and friends.

ELA 9, Period 3 and 4

If your TED Talks were/are completed, please hold onto that materials. When further directives come from EECD, I hope to find a way to allow you folks the opportunity to present the work you've done in some capacity.

Until further directives are given to teachers, make time in your day to read! Read about anything and everything. Find articles about your favorite video games, sports, about people, and places.

Music 9, Period 1

At this time, until further direction is given from EECD, there is nothing you can be working on. Should you have your theory books at home, feel free to work through the remaining pages and learn more about scales, intervals, triads and arpeggios.

Guitar 10, Period 5

If you have guitars at home, keep playing and practicing whatever you wish. Use the Guitar Tuna app to find some fun chord-praciticing games you might try. Ultimate Guitar Tab is a great website to look up songs you may wish to learn, with some excellent additional features.

At present time, there is no written work or other course work that can be done. Once further directives are given from EECD, we will move forward accordingly.

Senior Project

Senior projects that do not require going to populated areas can go on as usual. Those of you that need to go to populated Centers, such as the gym to work out, should suspend those parts of your project until further notice.

Please e mail me at Mariecke.leavitt@nbed.nb.ca if you have any questions.

Thanks and take care.

Senior Project 120, Periods 4 and 5 - Update

If your project involves working with a group of people, put it on hold for now.  If you are working individually, continue working like you normally would.

Midterm presentation dates will likely need to be pushed back.  Keep checking the LHHS website for updates.

I should now have the following items from all of you:

  1. Your project proposals - these were due at the end of February.
  2. Your first journal summing up your progress during the month of February - this was also due at the end of February.
  3. We should have had our first conference by now.  If we have not, expect that we will be conferencing the day we return to school.  Don't forget to continue to collect evidence (photos, videos, etc.) to demonstrate your progress on the project.

English 111 Periods 1, 2 and 3 - Updates.

Hi Everybody,

There are a lot of things up in the air right now.  I will update on here regularly as I learn more.  As far as English goes, you can't really work on either of the 1984 assignments right now if they involve you working in a group.  Both of these due dates will be pushed back to May at the earliest.  Those of you who have not presented your speech in class, keep practicing.  The Lions Club speech competition has been postponed, but will likely be rescheduled for sometime in April or May.  Miss Britt will possibly have some introductory poetry notes and assignments for you in the next few days, but that is not confirmed right now.  Keep watching the website for more updates.
